Yet another area that we simply don't know enough about. I'm not sure if these thoughts fit together, but here's a few things that may or may not help. Not sure exactly how far we can take the comparison of the AoT with an arch of stone, and wild magic's role as the AoT's keystone with a stone arch'...

I agree that Dark Knight is another that is possibly the best comic ever. But I don't think Moore had anything to do with it. Miller/Varley, iirc. Yeah Vain, as Sylvanus says, same name as the guy who invented the ink blot tests. That's why the character gave himself that name. "Existence is ra...

Another comic book mention :)

Arguably, the best thing that the world of comic books has ever produced is a twelve-issue series called Watchmen . In it is a character named Rorschach. We learn his origin in issue #6. He was trying to rescue a little girl who had been kidnapped. When he found the kidnapper’s house, he found out t...

I get lost in Heretics and Chapterhouse too. Such incredible stuff in some ways - particularely, and obviously, the Honored Matres. But I'm not very smart in the ways of politics, so a lot of the conversations in those last books send me running for chocolate ice cream. The original book, however, i...

As Janice would say, OH! MY! GOD! I freakin' LOVE the idea of TC cards!! ROFL!! It's all I can do to not buy tons of Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I have to restrain myself somewhere, and cards has to be it. But I'd be all over TC cards!! It doesn't even have to be a game - just plain collecti...

What was duchess of malfi talking about? What is Gildenfire? It is a chapter of TIW that SRD took out. He wrote it too long, and had to cut. He cut Gilden-Fire because it was told primarily from Korik's pov. He didn't know if he should do that, since it would sort of tell us that the Land was, inde...

I'm curious about the mental communication they have with each other. And the fact that when he spoke in his own language Linden thought Brinn sounded poetic. Perhaps it isn't the Haruchai that are terse, but speaking the common language limits their ability to express themselves fully. That's a fa...

Salvatore

A couple of people have told me about Salvatore's Forgotten Realms books. The couple of things they've told me make it sound fairly interesting. But these two people aren't TCTC fanatics. I was wondering if any of you, who I obviously have some important common-ground with, can give me an opinion.

Well, the first three characters introduced are all dead in by page 15. Off to a good start! :) Gotta love this one though: "Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?" "That is the only time a man can be brave." A classic thought, nicely said. So what's with the middle initial &q...

What we know about these things is that Covenant, the one person intimately familiar with the white gold and the wild magic, did not believe that he could have killed Foul with it. Great point! Once the wild magic is triggered, Covenant always seems to know how to use it, what it's capable o...

Working on a thought experiment of sorts here... Obviously, the greatest binding factor on Foul is the Arch of Time, so I would propose that the AoT is the source or embodiment of all laws, or that all laws spring from Time Thank you, my friend, for proving my point. The first thing the Creator bui...
