If Stephen R Donaldson would allow expansion or maybe even do a short story (preferably a Novel or two) of just the Giants Homeland..the departing Unholmed all the way up to the Search. I doubt SRD would do this himself..but if some other Talented Giant loving understanding person could do it.....I...

Well said.

Things are always better when Giants are in the story. :D

While I think all of the possibilities discussed here have merit (and are very entertaining), isn't it just possible that he could mean it in a kind of..."Whoa...I didn't know you could do that? Holy crap, that was amazing" kind of way? Kind of like when someone shows us a magic trick...th...

Did I somehow misunderstand TC's relationship to the AoT? I thought that he was a part of the AoT now. Then, I read in FR that he's its "gaurdian." So...was he there to defend it...near it...or part of it. I can't see him being a part of it and then being summoned back to life without that...

Giant Appreciation

I don't know what kind of, if any, conversation this will begin, but I'm overwhelmed with love for the Giants right now. Foamfollower will always be my favorite, but I've not "met" one Giant that I haven't loved (even the deranged Longwrath - I pity him rather than dislike or fear him). I ...

Donaldson says something about this in the front matter to Reave the Just. So there you have it. There is something different about the presentation of characters. Thanks so much for the quotation! While I certainly value the author's own comments on his writing, I think there are things readers no...

I don't think there's as big a difference as some of you seem to think. It's still unmistakably Donaldson. At the same time, it's impossible for a thoughtful, self-critical artist to remain static. I think his goals have changed slightly, emphasizing character more than world or setting. But his po...

Those of us who have followed Donaldson through Mordant's Need, the Gap Cycle, and The Man Who novels probably don't find his new style as jarring as anyone who's only read the Chronicles. (BTW, you?) Still, when you come back to the Land, you can't help but notice the difference due to the sharp c...

Ok, I'm a newbie here, so if I'm posting in the wrong place, just say so...or move it...or do whatever you fantastic mods deem fit. :) I mentioned in my intro post that I started blogging about the Chronicles before I thought to seek out other fans. Now, I can share some of my thoughts and hopefully...

Hi there. I know you posted this quite some time ago, but I'm new to this forum, and was perusing the threads when I saw Rhapsody. I was hesitant to read these as well. The first book is good...the second and third are great...but after that, the series begins to falter, imho. I still look forward t...

Newbie: Pharinet

Hello! I'm Pharinet, and I'm very excited to have found KW! Why I'm Here: I only recently discovered Donaldson's amazing series. I've been reading the Covenant Chronicles voraciously for about a month now. I finished The Runes of the Earth last night, and just started Fatal Revenant last night. I've...
