just re-read the sword of shannara.....

Just re-read 'the sword of shannara' by terry brooks. my god - how did he get away with it! it's lord of the rings without the long words. still enjoyed it though. don't know whether to be pissed at such a bald faced plagerism or to laugh at the cheek of it and take my hat of to him for providing to...

I agree. This was a scource of confusion to me as well. It seems to me that we have two 'creation myths' running side by side ie the creator and his children and lord foul looking over his shoulder as one, and the worm of the worlds end/nicor story as the other, and both at different points in the s...

I was tempted to say he was 8 inches tall with a purple head but that would just be crude. No - he was just normal height i.e. the same height as whoever was reading about him and Orlion - no way did vain 'crouch' - that was not his nature at all (though I fully admit he did stand with his knees sli...

Agree with WF and HLT. The Haruchai were always very susceptible to coercion, and the Illearth Stone was put into use against the citizens of Revelstone in that manner. Imagine for a moment, nearly 500 Bloodguard under the control of Satansfist, inside the gates of Revelstone, wiping out every man,...

Yes, the Gap is very, very good - but you have to be prepared for it to lack the cheeriness of Covenant. It doesn't have the warm fuzzy bits. It's an excellent series, but it is unrelentingly bleak in a way that Covenant won't prepare you for. The first book is quite different to the rest of the se...

There were fifteen million fingers learning how to play
You could hear the fingers picking and this is what they had to say
'Let there be Sound, Light, Drums.........'

Oh, no, - Sorry Soft one, Wrong Creation Myth!

Just been and checked out Warmark's link above and while it's definitely good it's very fiddley detail. What we are after here is grand sweeping gesture that will take our breath away (as it did to inhabitants of the Land), not watchmakers drawings. C'mon Blackhawk - do your stuff! :D

I had always visualised the Ur-Vile wedge as being a roiling mass of bodies, in the traditional shape of a triangle with the lore master at the apex, but internally disordered and chaotic with, yes, much body contact - not as neccesity but more in the spirit of the Demondim's disturbed and agitated ...

There is only one man for that job Thor, and I believe he has the project in hand already - I refer of course to Blackhawk (If you haven't seen his version of Kevins Watch and the Mithil Valley check it out - it is AWESOME in the real sense of the word!)

Mmmmm....... Assuming a 'Land' age of 5 billion years, or thereabouts, and a conversion factor of ten of our years being equal to 4000 'Land' years then we have the age of the Land in Earth years being:- 5000,000,000 divided by 400 = 12,500,000 years Todays date being 4 - 11 - 09 (AD) then we have a...

Mmmm..... The general concensus seems to be that the reference to these other manuscripts has no underlying signifficance (re the Ist chronicles being possibly the 'three or four manuscripts' that are being refered to) and that the sentance is, if you like, just 'padding' in respect of the narrative...

Has anyone got any ideas.......?

Has anyone got any ideas about what Dr Berenford was refering to when, at the start of 'The Wounded Land' he says to Linden (of Covenant's previously published work) "Since then," the Chief of Staff continued, "he's published seven novels, and that's where you can really see the diffe...

Nope, never imagined Hile Troy as African American. Me, neither. Interesting that so many did, though. Could it be to do with the predominance of skin colors in the community within which an idividual reader lives. ie She/he has an inbuilt 'bias' to constuct an internal landscape that mirrors the o...

Dear Blackhawk, Love the picture, no problems with Kevin's Watch. Like TC I have a fear of heights, so In understand his reluctance to descend in LFB. My problem is the country shown below the Watch, I never imagined it to be as hilly or as rocky as shown, it is afterall named the South Plains. Hya...
