 No, but you can bowl maiden overs. (It's basically a "no hitter.") I like fast and furious 20/20 matches To be honest, I'm not much of a sports fan. 20/20 are a bit fast for me though. If I had to choose, it would be an ODI probably, although I'd wouldn't watch the whole thing, just...

Finished the Second Pern Novel, and enjoying it pretty well. Skipped the third book of the First Trilogy for now, per Menolly's reccomended reading order, so, I am now working on the first book of the Second Trilogy. Menolly, it's a good thing, your namesake was spoiled for me afterall, I never wou...

:P Yeah! I didn't know there were sticks/wickets until reading this book. I certainly had no idea the bowler was aiming at them. How far apart are these wickets that you're running back and forth between when you hit the ball? They must be close together to get such high scores? About 30 yards apar...

Crystal Singer

I enjoyed the series. Well, you actually read the series. :) But, I like the fact that a career could be made for a singer without a performance level voice, and enjoyed the story on top of it. Ah! Wild - oddly enough, I didn't automatically think of "crystal singing" as being anything li...

I'm going through Christopher Paolini's Inheritance books. I've done Eragon, Eldest and I'm about halfway through Brisingr. I'm quite enjoying their 'easy read'-ness. I hadn't realised he was 15 years old when he started the first book in the series. He captures some of the life politics quite nicely.

I wish I could draw images as good as this! I imagined Vains' posture to be stooping forwards and having an immovable stance with feet firmly planted to the ground and arms ready for action. Similar to the old boxer Jake LaMotta (Raging Bull) but less pronounced. I think if a picture of Vain could b...

Staff of Upper Lip : British version of the politically incorrect Staff of Stiffness (still works on parts of the body other staff's fail to reach)

Yep, not to be confused with the Staff of Helpfulness: where the wielder truly believes the help they're giving is not pompous, condescending, degrading, irritating, longwinded and ambiguous but actually helpful.

I will give it a fair read, but not in the near future.

I agree her writing style improved significantly over the Harry Potter series and I hope her new book is as interesting a read as her other books were.

I just checked DragonCon Altanta on the internet; it looks zehr expensive and big!. Way too fussy for my liking ;) I'm grateful there were no more than 100 people present at my 'Audience with Anne McCaffrey'. You never know how lucky you are sometimes :wicked:

I only found out last weekend and it made me sad. I met her once only at a reputable Orchard Square bookstore in Sheffield, England in the mid 1990's. It was a late evening question/answer 'LOCK-IN' followed by book signing and informal chat. I was late, having driven all the way from South Wales to...

Hello and welcome Webbo98 and Wilkomorph. Like I stated earlier, there's quite a good trickle of newcomers to the Watch. There's a lot of very well read members here and it'll take ages to read all their posts

Hello and Welcome Chaplainchris and Toddler There's a nice steady trickle of new members here isnt there? Many years ago, I thought I'd come off 2nd by swapping my Anne McCaffrey Dragon books for the first 3 TC books and had a similar reaction about the hero (I wanted him to get his come-uppance). H...
