Steeped in the vacuum of her dreams, A mirror's empty till A man rides through it. To me, the title of the second book alludes to Geraden becoming a man, and realizing his full potential as an Imager. He transforms from a boy and a clumsy Apt into a man and an Adept Master Imager, and in doing so, ...

Lebbick's a severe emotional mess, all right, but still able to mentally function as a commander, somehow (I assume loyalty to Joyse is responsible for both those things).

I especially like that part, for it succinctly sums up why a Giantess must be especially selective...not for reason of snobbery, but for reason of altruism.

As far as 2nd Chronicles vs. 3rd Chronicles goes, I like the 3rd Chronicles better. The return of the Ramen & Ranyhyn was gratifying to me (naturally), I liked meeting Berek Halfhand at last, the more complicated plot of 3rd Chron. fascinated me more, I love the time traveling, Esmer, the Mahdou...

I've now read all 10 Covenant books, and I've got to say: The First Chronicles. The two strongest reasons for me are TPTP chapters ""Lord Mhoram's Victory'" and "Leper's End". Lord Amatin's being shaken emotionally with near-despair as she realized her own capacity for Desec...

Lord Hyrim was the best possible man in the entire land to save the giants.. the giants would have loved him.. he would have inspired them and vice versa.. it all came down to time I guess... and time is something they did not have but if anyone could have done it, it would have been Hyrim. I stron...

Does anyone think there's any discrepancy between the history of the Haruchai in this book and that in Fatal Revenant? "Their need sent them eastward, out of the Westron Mountains, intending to conquer by might of fist the forms of sustenance their home did not provide, so that their wives and...

Seems like being a gaddhi of Brathairealm would be a good role to have. Minus the presence of a thaumaturge like Kasreyn, of course. And minus an invasion of Sandgorgons through the city. A gaddhi's life sounds pretty sweet. If you had all that, who'd need the Land, anyway?

I just re-read The Illearth War with Gilden Fire "inserted" between chapters 8 & 9 and found it to not be so much of a departure from the main story. ..At one point it was very obvious that it didn't quite fit however: In GF the mission encounter resistance in Grimmerdhore, but of his...

Yet in time a kind of understanding came to the Ho-aru and Nimishi . They saw that they fought a feud they could not win. First, the clans were too evenly matched for one side to retain for long any brief ascendance. And second, even victory offered no solution to the need, for a victorious family ...

(let's be honest), there is only so much one can say about the books. ;) True, but with all the topic threads that exist here just concerning the books, that's a lot to keep me interested for awhile, right there. It's always sorta weird when that happens. :D You feel like you know everybody, but nobody knows you. EXACTLY. Like meeting celebrities, even, when you're sure you know them from following their work but they don't have the slightest idea who in the world you are. I appreciate the welcome from you ...
