I believe the one in the 'reuters' story actually survived, or at least was not to be found after the event.

Going back to the original post - it's hard to see how leprosy couls cross infect from armadillos to humans if in fact the disease is zoonotic in the species as suggested. Leprosy [if I remember my Chrons properly] is pretty hard to transmit even human to human - but armadillo to human? 8O

Apparently bacterial transmission can occur via handling or eating them, but the risk is actually very low.

Florida is a big state to make such a blanket statement.

My part of Florida does not suck.

Thanks, sarge. I did wonder if you'd ever actually been here.

There are lots of nice things all over Florida. And some not so nice things in some parts of Florida. But then again, I think that's true of any place.

Then you should go when Disney has Armadillo Day. Crowds are usually light.

Do the first 50 guests get a free case of leprosy?

I've never been to Disney either, mainly because of the crowds. And not being a huge Disney fan. I do like rollercoasters and such though.

Disney isn't crowded if you pick a time of year when fewer people go. When we went in the last week of January, we encountered very few lines.

And spring training games are lots of fun.

That looks cool.

It's hot and muggy here in the summer. Pretty pleasant in the winter time. Orlando, where Disney is, can be quite cool in January. It got down to the 30s at night one of the times we went in January.

I did that once - hunted down a site that had special significance for me. This was back before Google and whatnot, so it felt like an accomplishment - something of a Dark Tower-ish quest.

Maybe I will go back someday, though the world has moved on and the original building is gone. I don't know if the site itself holds any meaning.

It's funny - I lost almost everything when I moved, including shredding any and all non-essential paperwork, but I came across the address on a scrap of paper hidden in the essential pile.

Maybe I need a quest. :yeehaa:
