Long time no see
Haven't posted here in ages. I have been busy keeping in touch with folks on FB and keeping my German Foodblog running. Apart from that I still have a family to care for, a house to maintain and a job to do - all of which is rather time consuming, nonetheless satisfying.
I still cook a lot, sometimes I post stuff on FB, but mostly on my blog. Today I felt like posting some random stuff out of my kitchen here.
Pumkin-Carrot soup with ginger and coconut milk
Mac'n'Cheese
Potato-beet-pumpkin casserole
For the want of a better name: Pizza Texas - smoky BBQ sauce, beef, chillis, corn, onions and bacon.
Chinese Char Siu.
Italian ciabatta bread using my home made wheat sour dough.
Peanaut butter BLT. Some people already complained "OH NOES, the simple BLT is holy!"
Honey-dill pickled cucumbers
Spinach-potato bake
Ragout with beef and broad beans on home made tagliatelle
Stifádo - greek stew with a hint of cinnamon. In a perfect world it would have been lamb, but here it was beef.
I now have a 22.5" kettle grill, so I started smoking. Here are some spare ribs that came off the bones just by looking at them. Dry rub, cooked over indirect heat (230F, hickory wood chips) for 3 hours, then another 2 hours in foil with a dash of apple juice and another hour mopping them every now and then. Perfect. Bun, slaw, wedges - all home made.
Burger made from scratch. Gherkins, fried onions, sauces, bun - all home made. Just didn't kill that cow, but I would have.
Because eating healthy is important - s'mores.
Home made gnocchis in with sage butter.
Cesar Salad "Surf'n'Turf"
Smoked bourbon-honey glazed chicken breasts
Beet risotto

OMG---my inner glutton is raging.
I want ALL of it.
I just made a wish for a Magic Drone that delivered me unlimited supplies
of your meals and whatever the various homebrewers around here are making at the time.

the difference between evidence and sources: whether they come from the horse's mouth or a horse's ass.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.
