My little sister is 60 today! Unfortunately, since the government moved the goalposts she can't retire or get her pension until she is 66! I was luckier and got mine at 63, and my bus pass, which I do make good use of.

We decided to do a classic mirror duckface Facebook selfie for the Watch to enjoy. It features a Swordmain on the foreground, and Fuzzy appears somewhat akin to a dangerous tufted duck.

24 minutes to midnight here (according to my computer). Spent most of the day stocktaking publications at the research centre and consequently very, very tired. Home alone as usual, but that suits me fine.

3 1/2 hours till midnight, and I have Iolanthe beat in the boring New Year's Eve department, I am alone in a motel room with seltzer water.

I did have a nice day, took my Dad to Mystic Seaport where although it got cold as the day wore on, we geeked on old boats and ropemaking equipment and found out NYC is doing Tall Ships in 2017 so I am totally looking forward to that!!

A few more days and then back to Africa, where Stag of the Dawn awaits. <3
