Well, it just keeps going doesn't it? There's pretty much always going to be a tomorrow and another year etc etc. until the eventual heat death of the universe, right? :D

Still don't really know. She's going back for more tests this week. The only thing she tested positive for was coronavirus, which isn't very helpful because there isn't a test that differentiates between all the various strains, which range from not-a-big-deal to 100% fatal. Or it could have been a false positive because a lot of cats are asymptomatic carriers. At this point, it probably isn't FIP (which is the fatal mutation), so it's possible it was just a severe flu-type thing. Or she has one of those autoimmune issues that's difficult to diagnose because it has a million potential symptoms.

I had to pick someone up from the hospital on New Years Day in Manhattan. It was like entering the demilitarized zone. They searched every car coming into the city. There was an army guy/gal on every corner with machine guns and flack jackets. Hardly any cars on the streets but tons and tons of drunk pedestrians. It was like an obstacle course. Very weird, very reminiscent of 911.
The loudest truth I ever heard was the softest sound.

That's a bit disturbing. Nothing like that here. I spent most of the night trying to separate the gunfire from the fireworks. I'm getting good at that game.

off of work until the 17th of January. I should be able to catch up on some reading.

next week we go to Galveston for a few days for Julie's schooling.

the court sends her somewhere in Texas every year. we have been to Houston, Dallas, Austin, Tyler, South Padre Island, San Antonio. most of those repeated times.

Hey, I know where that is! Pretty sure I frog-marched danlo and Grace past the place this summer... I will plan to be there!

Oh. Hmm. Y'all probably want to know where I've been and whatnot.

Not much is new. Still working at the same place, still in DC. Batty still lives with me and still doesn't have a job -- although she's been hiring herself out as a cat-sitter in our apartment building and making some cash that way. Still don't have the stuff from my mother's estate settled. Paid a retainer to a lawyer in my hometown, but he has done next to nothing, so I fired him. :(

Magickmaker's gamble on a gummint job didn't pay off. It's pretty much been downhill from there for her. She's been working temp jobs, Plus she totaled her car and her current living situation isn't on a bus line. :( I wish I knew how to help her, but other than offering to co-sign for a new car, there's not much I can do. There's not enough room in my apartment for both kids to live with me.

Anyway...same song, different stressful verse. Hoping things will look up for us in the new year.

I guess that's good if you're a frog.

They say the job market is improving, but I have yet to see it. Good luck to both of them. And you.
