They don't police my online activity, either. They could, I suppose, but I've never had anyone say anything about it. And like I said, I can't actually get to the forum from my work computer, cause forums are blocked at work. So if I post at all, it's from my phone.

But I'm just mostly too busy with patients when I'm at work to have much time for forum posting..

Passive policing rather than active policing.

They've gotten pretty annoying and paranoid, labeling emails that are from a very old professional listserv I am on as "spam" or "marketing" or advertising. And quarantining emails till I click that they are okay to release. And so far they haven't actually caught any legitimate spam. The spam and phishing emails sail right through their filters!

And let's not even talk about the legitimate - as in, useful to my work - sites they have blocked. I got IT to allow me access to two sites, but it was a project involving multiple emails and approval from my supervisor. So mostly not worth the time and aggravation.

Now, I either find it on my phone or tablet or find it at home and email the info to myself at work.

They have seriously cracked down on access to non-work-related sites where I work. I can't get to any outside email provider, even Gmail; can't get to Google Drive or Dropbox; can't browse for stock photos (for my book covers) because the sites are classified as photo-storage sites. Basically, anyplace where you could upload something to the cloud and fetch it later at home is blocked. We can't use any message services, either, except for the in-house Cisco message thingy that's integrated with our desk phones. If somebody messages me on Facebook, I have to respond on my phone.

Supposedly it's to protect sensitive client information and keep the firm free of malware, etc. But come on.

I know, right?

I should have seen the way the wind was blowing a couple of years ago, when I tried to go to the Watch and found IT had blocked it. Yes, the Watch -- because a BBS is such a breeding ground for malware and viruses. I practically had to get a special dispensation to get it unblocked.
