Hello Friends!
Good day all!
I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this forum while scouring the net for TCoTC artwork. After spending a few hours reviewing some of the truly impressive fan art and thought provoking (often silly) discussion i knew i had to become a part of this community!
I am a busy professional and have little time to read but i listen to 6 - 8 hours of audio books a day. I first completed the Chronicles almost a year ago and just began listening from the beginning again. This series has deeply touched me and, in a lot of ways, watching Thomas Covenant overcome his demons and grow into the hero we all knew he could be has inspired me towards self betterment.
My first adventure through the land was very much a solo experience as none of my friends share my love for fantasy. Often times i would find myself bursting with ideas, questions and excitement but alas, no outlet for these feelings was available. My hope in joining this community is that i might find some like minded and perhaps better informed individuals to act as companions / guides on this second journey through the land.
I am also an avid fan of the Dark Tower (all King really), The Wheel of Time, Classic SiFi, and many other series.
Looking forward to chatting with all of you!
Joy is in the ..... um.... eyes that read? lol

Welcome to the Watch, Mr. Dubbs. I'm glad you found us.
I'm not an artist personally, but I've been an advocate for making KevinsWatch the largest collection of Donaldson-inspired art on the Web. I hope you've found the Laborium in the Album section. There are also threads but, sadly, sometimes images become unhosted there.
Also, you may want to check out the Group Readings. They are not ongoing, but they are not dead either. They are a font of information on what other people have thought about each chapter, and we encourage people to keep adding to it.
Of course, if there's a specific part of the story you have questions about, there are probably lots of topics about it. The forum is searchable.

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor
"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

Welcome aboard!
The Tank is gone and now so am I.
Thanks for the replys all. Really excited to be here and with how active the forum is.
The Laborium is impressive! I especially like the renditions of the cavewrights, Sand Gorgons and ur-viles. One of the drawbacks of listening as opposed to reading is that you really don't get a chance to pause and visualize as the narrator keeps right on reading.
Quick question: Would a discussion regarding the similarities / differences between The Dark Tower and TCoTC be better placed in General Literature Discussion or the Entire Chronicles forum? perhaps there is already an active thread and i have yet to find it, still working my way through everything here. What a great resource for fans!
In any case, these being my two all time favorite series i have been dying to get into this. Almost makes me want to go back to school and write some sort of thesis but the whole thing is to broad right now for me to even know where to begin

lol I'm referring specifically to the "lets make up a bunch of TCoTC Tee Shirts" thread from a while back.
After being directed to this site by Google for artwork as well as TCoTC discussion I found myself here yet a third time after trying to find TCoTC Tee shirts.
It was after reading this thread in its entirety that i knew i had to join.

Entire Chronicles if you want to actively discuss the last four books, for the benefit of anyone still avoiding spoilers.CDubbs247 wrote:Quick question: Would a discussion regarding the similarities / differences between The Dark Tower and TCoTC be better placed in General Literature Discussion or the Entire Chronicles forum?
If you want to only discuss the first and Second chronicles w.r.t. DT, then you can pick from the First and Second forum, the Gen Lit forum, or the Stephen King forum, at will.
I don't think there's a dedicated comparison thread, so feel free to spawn one. Or resurrect an existing thread, as ka wills.
BTW, I am a proud owner of a Feeling Insequent/Full of Mahdoubts tee from Elohimfest 4. [link]

Welcome to the Watch, CDubbs247!
May you thrive here...and contribute.
Those tee shirts (or at least one variant) actually exist. Menolly has a Nom shirt designed by Rigel; the front says "Distance has no meaning to such power" and the back says "You little comprehend what you have summoned."
If I am not mistaken, she wore this several years ago when she met Fist, Xar, aliantha, and lorin in New York for Sugarfest. I know she wore it to both Elohimfest '11 and Elohimfest '14.
Edit: just checked the Group Fests album. There are a couple photos of her in the shirt, but none where the writing is legible.

Welcome to the Watch, CDubbs!
There will be a good few people from the Watch meeting up in Albuquerque for Ocktoberfest later on this year if you were interested in coming along. There will be plenty of opportunities there to talk about SRD's (and King's) work.
Be Welcome and True!

No, it was late September back in '10. The name (credited to lorin) had to do with the cupcake extravaganza y'all had in Grand Central Station after the Turkish restaurant.Fist and Faith wrote:Sugarfest? That gathering had a name? Why that? Was it the weekend of the Sugar Bowl?
You may have been a bit distracted by a certain blond in a black dress. Rather a different sweetness, nu?

You want silly? You need to be sure not to miss the THOOLAH thread. It's a hoot!
Actually, the original thread is even funnier.

Another set of threads that I find enjoyable are Plains of Ra's Hopeful Riders and Hopeful Riders:Grand Reopening threads. The names of the Ranyhyn which present themselves are generally inspired.
