Mine were curious at first, because they're nosy about whatever I'm doing, but they lost interest as soon as I was done setting it up.
"That's it? Psh, YOU sit in it."
Drink a lot of water and/or tea. I'm hoping I'm 'immune' for the rest of the season.

Maybe it's an elaborate scheme by the cats.Sorus wrote:Mine were curious at first, because they're nosy about whatever I'm doing, but they lost interest as soon as I was done setting it up.

You never know what they do when your back's turned.
Maybe Av's cat was texting your cat, going,"Our human did something like what your human did with tape. This experiment was SUCH a great idea!"
Back to the thread topic, which is how is each of us doing, individually... I'm currently disappointed because I tried to ask if I can tutor one of my former tutoring students, and he didn't want to start up tutoring again.
But kind of content with... the fact I got 2 loads of laundry done in 3 days.. which is good because one could say I have a LOT of laundry that needs done sometime.
Also, I did a really big fridge cleaning... but the post-fridge-cleaning feeling is still not as satisfying as I could wish.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

It's quite possible. I wouldn't put it past them.Linna Heartlistener wrote: You never know what they do when your back's turned.

Kara was my last hope, and she paused for a minute and literally made a question mark with her tail.

...and then lost interest.

Cleaning is always satisfying. I should defrost my freezer, but speaking of cats, Min likes to 'supervise' the effort while sitting in the sink and complaining that her paws are cold.

See, there's the problem. You can't go telling a cat that something is irresistible to them. They'll resist it just to be contrarian.Avatar wrote:Nah, the circle is supposed to be irresistible to them.

In related news, they appear to have hidden my tape.

Adorable. If the Watch ever needs an animal mascot, I know which creature I don't want to get on the wrong side of by not voting for!
But back to how we, the humans, feel today...
I'm ridiculously excitedly happy 'cause I taught my math kids today and it went great...
(I'm like... "I know I'm human, so I'll get used to this. I can't expect to be this elated after teaching this subject every week for the rest of my life. But I kinda wish I could be." ? )
Also... gleefully excited over a jello thing I made for a treat for the kids/youth at the Chinese church tomorrow afternoon.
A layer of almond agar dessert, then apple pieces arranged in a heart on that, encased in a top layer of orange jello.
So it's both food and art. <3

I was good at math as a kid, though I was never encouraged. Teachers taught rote memorization - math was seen as necessary, but not as something enjoyable. It occurs to me that I never had a teacher that liked math. I'm not sure I ever had a teacher that liked teaching.
Liking what you do - whatever that may be - is important. That's an understatement. There will be not-so-great days - that's inevitable - but there's no reason the elation should wane. And as long as you're enthusiastic about the subject, that enthusiasm will be contagious.

I suck at math. I dropped it as a subject at school when I was 16 (you could still do that then), and I barely scraped through Statistical Methods at university, eventually. (Well, to be honest, I did better than scrape when I passed, but I failed it a few years first.
)
Oh, I feel like Monday...still, we've decided to leave work 15 mins early Mon-Thursday, to get a head start on the traffic, so that's a plus.

It's Tuesday afternoon here, and we have a social here at work in about 45 minutes. At least there will be food. And booze, presumably...
Looks like we'll be moving at the end of this month, to a 2-bedroom apartment in the same building -- assuming the main office approves converting the current least to an 11-month one instead of the annual one I now have. I'll have to pay them the difference in rent for the past 11 months
but it has to be done. MagickMarker needs to move back in, and it would be a Very Bad Idea for her to sleep on the trundle in the living room, next to Batty on the daybed, for any length of time...
