What fantasy/science fiction book are you reading RIGHT NOW?

I finished the first five in The Pipe Woman Chronicles, as well as the three short stories which bridge the gap between them and the Land, Sea, Sky series. I read the first two blog posts in the link SD shared, and since ali has yet to post a timeline (I am waiting for her to rest up from her trip to Ireland), I am assuming the third blog post would be read before I begin Land, Sea, Sky proper.

That said, I saw at the end of Prophecy that a short story featuring Joseph , which I have not read yet, was published in volume I of a horror anthology. Then I also saw that ali has another contribution in volume III of the same anthology. Is this second contribution also set in the Pipe Woman universe, ali?

Also, are there any other blog posts or public story notes relating to the series, other than the ones SD shared, ali?

The one in 13 Bites Vol. III is not part of the Pipe Woman Chronicles universe -- it's my first (and likely only one ever ) zombie story.

As for blog posts that relate any of the books of the serieses? Um. Hmm. I wrote a little bit about each of the books as I was writing them and/or releasing them. I'd have to go back through all my posts and see which are substantive. That's about 200 blog posts, so it will take me a while to go through. But I'll get that timeline up and post a link here, in case anybody else is interested. (Edited to add: Just saw SD's list on the previous page. Thanks, SD! Let's call that the working list 'til I can make a more thorough search...)

As for my recent reading: This Census Taker by China Mieville. Saw it at the library and figured I'd give it a try.

I started reading The Name of the Wind on the plane home and would be continuing with it, except it's hella long and I need to get the Mieville book back to the library.

Also read Ashes and Rain by Alexes Razevich while on vacation. She's an indie author (and an acquaintance, okay? ) who writes sci-fi with a sociological bent. The first book in this series, Khe, is really good, and this one was, too.

Heh. Figures. Bought Menolly a copy of 13 Bites Vol. I yesterday. Since the story in Vol. III is not from the PWC universe (and since zombies are not really my woo-woo niche), I'll hold off on that unless she really presses for it.

Just finished The Fifth Season - wanted the sequel, but it isn't out until August. They were still sold out of Seveneves, and I looked at Uprooted and decided it wasn't really what I was in the mood for. There aren't many times I've left a bookstore empty-handed, and I'm sure I could have found something if I'd looked around a little longer, but for now I'm rereading some old Glen Cook.

2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson: high quality book with a good story and interesting characters. I wasn't gone on the ending as it seemed to tidy up a bit too neatly. There may be room being left for a sequel.

No, I'm entirely ignoring the "Lord John" books. At least for now. Maybe one day.

Well, I happened to find 2 of them in a 2nd hand bookshop. Nothing like in order or anything. I'll read them anyway, when I finish the series I'm busy on.

Just started The Inheritance Trilogy, by N. K. Jemisin. Went for the omnibus edition, and it's good so far.

Haha, I'm sure I will too. However, my delivery for my Gerald durrel books arrived yesterday, so I'm reading those first.

Also, once I start reading them, I will have to find the rest, which is always a pain or expensive.

Just finished beta reading a historical/time travel book called "Being Travis," the second in a series by Melissa Bowersock. The first one, "Finding Travis," is already out, and this second one will probably be out in a couple of months. It's set in Arizona. Modern-day guy falls asleep while playing the role of a 19th-century camp surgeon in a reenactment event, and wakes up at the actual camp. There's not much in the way of action sequences, but I thought it was good anyway.

I've avoided her Lord John books, but I do hear they're good. I think Luci's read them.

I've read the ones I know about, but occasionally stumble upon a new-to-me title. I enjoy each story, but really appreciate the background and story arc we get for L-rd John and how it all ties in to the main plot line.
