Finally killed normal mode Xavius tonight. Kinda hard when we always seem to be carrying a couple of dps who aren't much higher than the tanks. (One guild dps has an artifact that's ilevel 814. I have no idea how. It's his lowest level item. Another guildie linked their never-used offspec artifact and it was over 850, just from tossing in relics they got by chance.)

Grats! We just downed Il'gynoth using your strat - thanks.

Also downed the bird - spider - spiderbird - pretty sure Elerethe Renferal couldn't be pronounced with either mandibles or a beak, anyway, stuck on Cenarius now. Quite a chaotic fight, but I'm sure we'll get it.

I've gotten a lot of offspec relics too - have decent on my main now (Disc is at 874), but for a while I had a higher item level as Holy, even though I hadn't spent any artifact power on it. The most annoying thing was getting a versatility ring from a bonus roll on a world boss - versatility is the last in stat priority for every Priest spec, and I couldn't even trade it because it was a bonus roll.

Downed Cenarius and got Xavius to 63%. The biggest problem I was having on the fight was that we were running with 3 healers and I kept being the only one sent into the dream, so my corruption was building up too fast and I was getting kicked out of the dream early and there was too big a gap before the next dream phase. We were down a couple of our main dps tonight - not sure if it's better to add a fourth healer so two get sent into the dream, or to stack dps and try to push the phase faster. Will have to read some strats before next week, because the videos I watched were not from a healer's PoV.

I'd say improving dps is your goal there. You want to minimise the gap between dreams. I think we were getting maybe 30 seconds. Just got to push to 60%. How many big adds were you getting? Think 3 is the most you want to see, that's a good gauge of dps.

I got a legendary today! The Shaman legendary ring, best one for my spec. Got it from the emissary quest reward.

Grats! We had a legendary drop in raid a few nights ago - not for me, but still nice to know that they can drop as personal loot from any of the bosses.

I can't remember how many big adds we got - probably more than 3. But a couple of our main dps were out, so I expect we will progress more this week.

Anyone following BlizzCon? I've never bought a virtual ticket, but I consider it every year.

The class mounts look nice. Priests get a cat-owl!

We downed Xavius last night, and heroic Nythendra. Attempted heroic Ursoc, but the tank swap gave us some problems, so more studying before this week.

Progression raiding is work, but it's work you do for fun with people you enjoy spending time with.

Also: Cat-owl. CAT OWL.

I'm feeling like a slacker because I haven't even read the patch notes. I've barely played since the last patch.

So I thought I'd just sign in and kill the world boss really quick without reading the patch notes or updating addons. There was a group already assembled, so I figured I'd just tag the boss without joining the actual raid. I somehow ended up tanking, which would have been bad enough if they hadn't removed half the abilities from my toolbar. Spent half the fight standing in fire with my spellbook open trying to find my abilities. Somehow didn't die. Happy patch day.

Not sure how I feel about the new token system. They can now be used for a month of game time OR $15 of Blizzard store credit. I would have bought a few more if I had known it would cause prices to double overnight - they're over 100K now! But it's the first day, and maybe things will settle.

That's pretty amazing. I can't imagine raiding without voice chat. Or the addon that yells at you when you stand in fire.

Oh yeah, audio cues for me are by far the best way to get me to notice and react to stuff quickly. Impressive to raid without voice, without boss voices, or any of that.

Got me thinking last night when I was running a character through the quests that open WoD - it's completely random whether the cutscenes are closed captioned or not. I'd noticed it before because I prefer when it is - (I won't watch TV shows if they aren't captioned) - but how annoying it must be for deaf players that the big scene right at the end of that whole story lacks text.
