Lots of new discussion threads would boost post count

Post by aTOMiC »

It would certainly help boost the post counts if some clever people created some new and interesting discussion threads.

What Star Wars clues predict the future?

How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Does the book of Revelations actually fit with the proper canon of the New Testement?

If there is life after death what color would it be?

Is it wrong to eat Ice Cream before dinner?

Was Lord Mhoram an only child?

Should we rename Washington D.C. to Toilet Town?

How many of you have broken a mirror or stepped under a ladder?

How much did Loric's Krill actually weigh?

What would be your favorite color if you were color blind?

Was J. R. R. Tolkien an imposter?

What if the Beatles never existed?

Computers in the next century may be our gods

Is Culture more important than a peaceful society?

Was Morn Hyland actually the series antagonist?

Can Reave The Just be developed into a television series?

How long before physical books are completely replaced by digital?

What happened to the Bermuda Triangle? Is it still mysterious?

Was High Lord Prothal too old to lead the quest for the Staff of Law?

Are parents becoming obsolete?

Does anyone use cursive writing other than signatures?

What you put in your coffee says a lot about your personality

Proof that there was a fourth Raver

Does anyone have a good recipe for Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf?

Abolishing Political Parties: Would it help modern politics?

Did the Quest for the One Tree really accomplish anything?

What is next after big screen HD television?

Will the James Webb Space Telescope find God?

Television Sitcoms: Live audience or no laugh track?

Should the United States Annex Mexico and call it a day?

Space: 1999 - What would really happen if the Moon left orbit?

Tuesdays Suck and here's why...

If you could bring back one dead actor who would it be?

Will the first few lawsuits kill the autonomous car industry?

The international race to Mars: Is any of this really worth it?

Could you base an entire novel on the Elohim or are they too boring?

What is Rock music and does it still exist?

Are all collectors and collections the result of mental instability?

Time to confess: Do you play Pokemon Go?

The first thing you would do after winning the Power Ball?

Do you sing in the shower, whistle or hum?

What impact would a big budget Star Wars/Star Trek crossover film have on society as a whole?

Millard Fillmore: The most underrated United States President?

Evidence that Socrates never existed but was actually three separate ancient philosophers that never knew each other

Pizza without pepperoni: Is it really pizza?

Stephen Donaldson born the same year as Roswell incident: Should we be worried?

I wonder if any of these should actually be new threads...

I'll have a go at some of these!!
aTOMiC wrote:Does the book of Revelations actually fit with the proper canon of the New Testement?
Believe it or not, in this past week, I was told "really, don't skip reading Revelation just because you're behind on stuff; nooo effectively de-canonizing it!"
If there is life after death what color would it be?
MORE.
It would be MORE color.
Richard Baxter, 1615-1691 wrote:As much as a body spiritual, above the sun in glory, exceeds these frail, noisome, diseased bodies of flesh, so far shall our senses exceed those we now possess. Doubtless, as God advances our senses, and enlarges our capacity, so will he advance the happiness of those senses, and fill up, with himself, all that capacity. Certainly the body would not be raised up and continued, if it were not to share in the glory.

I literally told my sister that the reason I wasn't ready for a Kindle before I got one was that I was afraid of running afoul of that whole no-other-gods commandment ...thingy.
What happened to the Bermuda Triangle? Is it still mysterious?
My 8-year-old tutoring student was just asking me about this TODAY!
These topics are so relevant to current conversations.
(for me.)
Are parents becoming obsolete?
NO.
Does anyone use cursive writing other than signatures?
YES.
For pleasure.
Could you base an entire novel on the Elohim or are they too boring?
YES.
They are so weird.
Weird is fascinating.
You could just write the first novel on the premise of Linden or someone trying to predict what one of them is doing.
(But this verdict is my opinion only!)
Time to confess: Do you play Pokemon Go?
No, but if they come out with World of Warcraft GO! this summer...
The first thing you would do after winning the Power Ball?
Say thank-you to whoever gave me the lottery ticket?!?
Or just stand there like a slack-jawed yokel being like "Whuuut?"
Do you sing in the shower, whistle or hum?
People let me sing audibly around the house.
My singing only makes like one inhabitant of this place particularly uncomfortable/tormented.

So, mostly, no I don't sing in the shower
But there was actually a time when I would get in the car and once all the doors were closed, and windows rolled up, I would scream.
(I'd heard it would reduce stress, and that contributed to my decision to scream in the car.)
What impact would a big budget Star Wars/Star Trek crossover film have on society as a whole?
:haha:

Can we get any Simpsons-themed topics in with those?

That was a Banks joke. By Murrin anyway. :D (Although while the Culture might be peaceful, all the people they kill might disagree.)

(And it's sorta not a series. Just a bunch of loosely connected, pretty much stand-alone stories.) :D

WELCOME TO Image DISCUSSION FORUM
Who needs permission or a moderator anyway? Its Anarchy!!! :hairs:

I was there at the beginning when the Simpsons premiered on the Tracy Ullman show in 1987 and have continued to watch ever since.
The following is born from countless hours of viewing that has clearly rotted my brain and, though exhaustive, it does not represent the full scope of garbage I am capable of producing, just what I had time for.
Enjoy.

What Star Wars clues predict the future?
The ones in the upper left.

How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
Depends on individual saliva production and pH balance.

If there is life after death what color would it be?
What color is it now?

Is it wrong to eat Ice Cream before dinner?
Yes. What's wrong with you?

Was Lord Mhoram an only child?
How many people in the Land had siblings at all?

Should we rename Washington D.C. to Toilet Town?
That would be offensive to toilets.

How much did Loric's Krill actually weigh?
Probably as much as a short sword, around 2 pounds.

What would be your favorite color if you were color blind?
Depends on the type of color blindness.

Was J. R. R. Tolkien an imposter?
Who was he impersonating?

What if the Beatles never existed?
The Who would have taken their place.

Computers in the next century may be our gods
Is that a literal or metaphorical god?

Is Culture more important than a peaceful society?
No, culture must be willing to evolve for the betterment of society.

Was Morn Hyland actually the series antagonist?
No.

Can Reave The Just be developed into a television series?
A movie maybe. There's not enough for a series.

How long before physical books are completely replaced by digital?
Never. Hardcopy retains a unique survivability. You don't need an OS for a book.

What happened to the Bermuda Triangle? Is it still mysterious?
It's not getting as much press lately.

Was High Lord Prothal too old to lead the quest for the Staff of Law?
No. Ask some tougher questions.

Are parents becoming obsolete?
Not if you want the species to continue.

Does anyone use cursive writing other than signatures?
Not really.

What you put in your coffee says a lot about your personality
Only if it's the blood of virgins.

Proof that there was a fourth Raver
OK, let's hear it.

Does anyone have a good recipe for Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf?
I really hope not.

Abolishing Political Parties: Would it help modern politics?
Political parties are distillation of emotional extremes. You could eliminate the terms but not the emotions.

Did the Quest for the One Tree really accomplish anything?
Yes, it activated part of Vain's transformation into the Staff.

What is next after big screen HD television?
Big screen UHD television.

Will the James Webb Space Telescope find God?
What filters is it using?

Television Sitcoms: Live audience or no laugh track?
Those are the same thing.

Should the United States Annex Mexico and call it a day?
That would take more than a day.

Space: 1999 - What would really happen if the Moon left orbit?
Drift slowly into deep space, or slowly into the sun or slowly into orbit around the sun.

If you could bring back one dead actor who would it be?
Audrey Hepburn.

The international race to Mars: Is any of this really worth it?
Yes, Mars has much to teach us.

Could you base an entire novel on the Elohim or are they too boring?
They are very boring.

What is Rock music and does it still exist?
More of a collection than a form.

Are all collectors and collections the result of mental instability?
Not if the collections have scientific value.

Time to confess: Do you play Pokemon Go?
No.

The first thing you would do after winning the Power Ball?
Write.

Do you sing in the shower, whistle or hum?
I write.

Who?

Regals.

Of course.

No, Roswell had nothing to do with births.

Linna, Sorus, Khaliban...

I should have anticipated that these goofy suggestions might elicit actual responses. I'm glad some have genuine relevance though I was just tossing crap out as fast as I could think of it. I clearly got carried away. ;)

Upon further review and after seeing that some topics are less goofy and more realistic than others I wonder if I should have just made real discussion threads out of some of them. :-) If I have more time I might do that. My point was that there is a lot of territory yet to explore and we have room for many more new discussions on the Watch.

In my opinion they lost it around 2000. Every favorite Simpsons episode list I've seen includes pre-y2k stories only and though there are a few gems to be found in the post millennial group they don't usually rise to the same quality and are few and far between. Most contemporary Simpsons stories will cause one to grin on occasion but not much more. My favorite post millennial Simpsons episode wasn't a Simpsons at all. Family Guy had a cross over episode that demonstrated the glaring difference between what was and what is.

Yes, yes, it's a valid point.

I often think of things that I'm like "hey - that might be a good topic for the Watch!" but I put it off for one reason or another..

Anyway, here are some topics I've dreamed up that I've been "sitting on":
Gen. Disc.:
* "Odd Thankfulnesses - people & conversations you're thankful for on the Watch that nobody would ever expect"
* "One-on-one conversations vs. conversations in a group / in public" (poll, I guess!)
* "How do you talk about the Watch to people IRL?" Cause I'm a goof and I want people to please tell me I'm not the only one who does this. But I can at least a little blame Sorus for this thread topic if I create it? Maybe?
Gen. Lit. Disc.:
* "in which fictional characters discuss a book I read..."
The Close:
* The effect of advertising on the Western psyche (assumption set? soul? ethos? all of the above?)
* Pythonesque Parables and other Bible Stories as you've never seen them before
* "Christianity vs. Moralistic, Therapeutic Deism"
* Introducing Deerofthedawn's new book to the Watch (it's a Bible devotional)
...and at least one other!

Also, since we've got 3 people who like to (or love to. or must.) write stuff chillin' on this thread... maybe sometime we could try to do a "writing prompt" thing the way Lorin had gotten it going (in the Writer's Corner) years ago?

Speaking of peeps on this thread who write stuff.. (at least, that's one message I got from your post, Khaliban!)
Khaliban wrote:Regals.

I have been blamed for worse. I don't really talk about KW outside of KW, though most of my WoW friends are at least nominally aware of our existence because Lucimay does talk about KW in WoW. Though ironically, she rarely posts here these days. (Note to self: Bug her about that.) Our old GM is actually a registered member, though I don't know if she ever strayed out of the WoW thread and I doubt she's even visited that recently - but you never know.
