It's always tomorrow when you live in the future. Or is it never tomorrow? Maybe tomorrow is tomorrow.

Don't mind me. I'm sure the question will be worth the wait.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

alright - I ran into an unexpectedly busy work week (not my fault). So still haven't had time to conduct my own fact check on this - but promise I will do it for official purposes. Here's my question:

How many times was Morn discretely affected/overcome by Gap sickness (i.e., not counting times managed or controlled via zone implant)? yes, do the homework - if people bother to dare this, I'll post an official count, backed by page refs.

Thank you for the question, DocTox! To the best of my memory, Morn got Gap sickness when: she destroyed Starmaster and killed her family, when Nick set course for Billingate (Nick knows about her zone implant by this point, and has her on "cat" instead), and when Trumpet escapes the event horizon of the singularity grenade that destroys Free Lunch (and Morn used the gravity force to break her arm to blunt some of the effect of the gap sickness, though I think she "blanked out" for a reduced amount of time).

So, I think it was three times.

I'm in a regulatory audit this week (nature of my consulting work) - I'll finalize and post an official tally by end of Saturday).

Okay, here is my official tally of Morn's gap sickness:

The Real Story, pg 46 - Destruction of Starmaster (if you didn't know that one, you just aren't paying attention).

The Real Story, pg 167-168 - on board Bright Beauty

Chaos and Order, pg 568-569 - on board Trumpet under hard g - this is partial and I waffled on inclusion as an argument could be made either way - "for a moment she seemed to pass the wall into gap-sickness."

Chaos and Order, pg 607-608 - on board Trumpet, escaping from the singularity grenade (overcome with g and gap-sickness, but controlled by breaking her arm with heavy g).

Props to Cord Hurn for his tally (3 or 4 could be argued as correct), and noting that there were times that she controlled it with cat instead of the zone implant). But only partial credit for missing sickness while co-piloting Bright Beauty... so you only get to ask a partial next trivia question...? 8O

In The Real Story Chapter 12 was wrote:His computer had the codes and routing: now it had an echo of the actual data-stream. Soon he could call up a display of everything Captain's Fancy and Com-Mine Station said to each other.

When he [Angus] discovered that, he wanted to laugh and scream and break something and celebrate all at once. It was the perfect touch--the final reason why his bluff had worked.

And Nick Succoro's swashbuckling success was based on inside information. He had an ally in Security; a friend in power.

Yes, Angus discovered all this by going on an EVA and installing a communications line. Your memory seems pretty clear to me, StevieG! Good answer!

Ok, in the Ancillary Documentation, the gap drive is mentioned as a revolutionary discovery that virtually recreated the future of humankind, and meant that the entire galaxy of the Milky Way now lay within reach.

"However, some of the gap drive's effects were more subtle." Do you know any of these effects? :D

"Uh...Uh...no?" is incorrect :D

Please try again - a clue will be forthcoming soon if required!
