Wow. I suppose it isn't archaeology if the board is still active, but that felt like clicking a link to the 90s.

I wonder if the users of FB and other newfangled whatnot feel the same way about us. 8O

Not really that uncommon. At least one of the online B5 communities has been around since the show was on the air. Several car/truck/motorcycle forums have been around forever too, dating back to Usenet. Same with a lot of firearm forums. Hell, Stormfront's been around since the early '90s, proving that nothing lasts like hate.

I would be willing to bet that The One Ring.net is still active, I joined more than ten years ago but it was too much of a zoo for me.

https://www.grandprixgames.org/

A forum originally dedicated to the Grandprix Formula 1 racing simulations by Geoff Crammond. The current incarnation was installed in 2002 but the original forum dates back to probably 99 or 2k and it's genberally refered to as "Ye Olde Phorum". I have been a mod there most of the time but stepped back a few years ago because I don't have the time for it anymore.

Some of us are still around. The Official Lord of the Rings Fan Club (from the arrival of PJ's Movies) had a board on Decipher as early as 2001. They moved it and we lost a few. Then they closed it down, so we went on our own to Bookloaf. Now we are on DreamWidth. Not sure how I like it...KW is better, though certainly not the most modern. But I am at home here, as the set up is familiar.

Well, we're finally talking about upgrading the Watch, so things will probably change eventually... ;)

I guess the problem with upgrading security is that it might require some actual money. At least most of the certificates from trustworthy CA's usually cost money.

Actually, these days you can get an SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt for free, so that's handy.

We are not. I'm a member of a still active forum (though I'm no longer active on it) that has been around longer.

That would be a positive move.

Not a chance. This forum is not the oldest continually active forum on the internet, as I said above.

Hatrack River Forum. It's been around continuously since the 1990's, but you can't tell from the posts, as it has had several crashes and purges, during which many older posts were lost. It uses outdated software. Worse than us. ;)

:LOLS:

He must have been one of the first authors to start interacting online with his readers. Seen him mention the forum in interviews and afterwords and stuff.
