Oy, we are a stubborn lot!Almost three weeks ago StevieG wrote:A quick n easy one:
What was the name of the vessel that Marc Vestabule was a crew member of, before he became Amnion?
Thank you, Cord Hurn, for offering up the answer the rest of us had denied StevieG, rather than have to ask another question.

Thank you, Savor Dam! I want to let everybody know that I can only confirm answers on Fridays or Saturdays, because I work in a remote part of the Arizona mountains and can only get online when I can get to the county library on those two days off. I hope everybody will be patient with me about confirming guesses!
Having said that, here's the next Gap Quiz question:
What part of Sorus' ship Soar does Sib MacKern destroy?

Thanks for answering my question Cord! I can start sleeping again at night
On to yours - I reckon a few of my fellow Watchers will know the answer to that - but don't count on answers, or even guesses
I'm just trying to remember myself - but can't think of it right now. Was it the gap drive??

Absolutely right, Savor Dam! It was a camera! Sib managed to stress out Sorus' crew a bit with that action, but he got no further.Savor Dam wrote:I remember. It is emblematic of Sib's ineffectual nature. The great blow he struck against Soar was to shoot out an external camera on the hull.
We were all so proud of him.
Your question, good sir!

Yes, that answer covers the key points.
After Sib shot the camera and Nick shot Sib ("Sorus is *mine*"), Nick used the humongous laser rifle he took from Trumpet to first sever the power conduits to the proton cannon, then started on the mounts. Seeing this on one of the remaining cameras, Sorus blew the explosive bolts on the mounts and jettisoned the cannon, assuming that Nick would get blown up / swept away at the same time.
Over to you, Captain.

I can't think of another clue that doesn't give it away, so:
...and it's still my question.
What caused the breach in the cargo bay?
He must have abandoned his attack on Soar's proton cannon just in time to avoid being caught by the blast when Sorus jettisoned the gun. After that it was easy to guess what he'd done. Impossible to understand - but easy to guess.
He'd reached the relative protection of the breached cargo bay before Soar met Trumpet; fought Free Lunch. Even then he should have died. If nothing else, the energies of all that matter cannon fire should have fried his suit's systems. So he must have cut the airlock wiring and forced his way inside before the battle.
...and it's still my question.
What caused the breach in the cargo bay?
