Friday it is.

When I nap, it's a 3-4 hour exercise. Can't just nap for 20 minutes or an hour. Not sure if that makes me a good napper or not... :D

I have never been much of a napper, even when I was a kid. I suppose once I get old enough I will appreciate them more.

Today I am off work but I am sitting in the waiting room of a surgery center. My wife is having a procedure to inject her neck with steroids to aleviate pain from degenerative disc issues. She has been battling chronic pain for years and we are hopeful this helps. They say it will take a couple of hours so here I wait. :-)

Sorry to hear that aTOM .. chronic pain is no easy battle. Sending you both love ❤️ and extra love ❤️ to your wife!! Those injections hurt like hell.

I've used to get injections into the trigeminal nerves in my face! I'm pretty tough but they'd make me cry like a baby (but much quieter) .. I felt incredibly fragile for some time after just because of the paun ☹️. I really feel for her .. give her much pampering and wipe away her tears! 😪

Sorry. :(

Steroids can be pretty awesome, though. Hope it helps.

I somehow managed to survive this week, and apparently I don't look quite as undead as I feel, because I was offered a chance to work all weekend too. I really shouldn't say no to OT, since I'm paying off massive bills for dental surgery, with more of the same on the horizon. But I've already put in the equivalent of an extra day this week, and I'm exhausted and I'm not going to feel guilty for saying no.

Good luck tom! Hope it helps.

I hate offices of almost any kind, but doctors are actually okay. I think because I usually need to be there, the non-voluntary sitting in waiting rooms makes it easier to relax. i'm a terrible que-er. (line-waiter??)

Enjoy your nap, Av.

Thoughts are indeed with everyone in Texas.

Still have the remnants of a cold but I'm at work ready to get busy.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer to be in bed though.

Ah, my nap never happened. And almost as little sleep last night. Maybe I can fit it in today...

Seems to have been a bit quiet, what?

That's no fun. I've been fighting something off since the weekend - not as bad as yesterday, so hoping I've won that fight.

Almost spring thank goodness.

Managed to take my nap yesterday, only to awaken and discover we had a power outage.

I finally resigned myself to having to go out to find something to eat for us, got dressed, opened the door to leave, and it came back on again.

Electricity is very useful stuff. :D

Yes, something we tend to take for granted. Never a good idea.

It's inevitable. It's so omnipresent for us that we can't help it.

So, network port on my motherboard packed in last night, damned thing. Have ordered a USB -> Ethernet adapter and paid extra for overnight delivery. Bloody hardware. :D

Been having so much frustration over my net lately. Been using a wireless internet connection, but the service providers network is shutting down at the end of this month.

I planned to replace it with a fibre connection, since my building has had a fibre line laid to it, so I placed an order with an ISP.

Nothing happened and nothing happened, so I started harassing them, only to finally be told that no, the line into my building is a "pre-installation" (whatever that means) and that although I have a junction box with cable and connectors right outside my door, it's not active, and they don't know when it will be.

So at the 11th hour I signed up for my existing ISP's temporary replacement package, which is an LTE connection but as it's a stop-gap measure, it's capped at 100Gb per month.

(Except I've used the 100Gb and it's still running, so who knows what's happening there.)

Now I have to wait for proper packages to be made available. The LTE's more expensive than the fibre, but it's faster too, so...decisions decisions...if the fibre ever gets activated anyway.

Sounds crazy frustrating, Av.
Before I landed my job with the City of Tampa I worked for a fiber design and installation company.
Wouldn't be the first time I heard of the fiber lines and distribution equipment was installed but not activated. In some cases we knew going in that the customer had a progressive plan where only the administration office would be lit but the entire building would be wired to be activated for some future expansion plan. Imagine our technicians installing wiring and wall jacks and tenants asking when they could begin using the service only for us to say. "You got me. Sorry." :-(

Feeling better on this Thursday! :-)

Generally leads to surcharges, or at least it would with my ISP.

Oddly enough, I came home today and found ladders and spools of cable all about - looks like the building is being wired for a new flavor of access, but I don't know the details or whether or not it will benefit me. I'm happy with my ISP - rarely have problems. But I also know they're trying to phase out the plan I'm on, so it's nice to have options.

Yeah, in general I'd agree about the surcharges, but since this is the temporary measure while they get their options sorted out, there's no way for me to top it up, or even actually monitor my usage. (I'm basing my stats on what my router tells me.)

Since the contract I signed says it's not possible to top it up, and that it will cost me the same as my previous package did, I have grounds to dispute any attempt to charge extra.

Will have to see what happens. Ah well.

At least my USB/Ethernet thing worked.

Ready to get on with the three day weekend. The weather is going to be great with cooler temperatures more like the end of September rather than the beginning.
