Today I feel like Thursday but I'm sure the feeling will pass in about 9 hours. :-)

Yeah, the whole idea of wooden houses is weird to me. Housing here is brick, and that's just the way it is.
Brick isn't good in earthquakes, which is a lesson we apparently need to keep learning, though they did update the code after the big one in '89 to require better reinforcement. I'm always in awe of any architecture that's been around for hundreds of years, because we don't have that here.

Well, your country hasn't exactly been around for hundreds of years so... (Well, a couple hundred, but you know what I mean...)

Still, I know what you mean...when I visited Lincoln Cathedral a few years back, it was pretty amazing that it was built 1,000 years ago. :D

We don't have earthquakes. Or hurricanes. Or anything like that really. We're a pretty disaster-free part of the world. (Well, natural disaster-free, anyway. We have plenty of the other kind. :D )

Yeah, I guess it'd be more accurate to say that none of these buildings will still be around for future generations to admire. We don't build things to last. ANY things, but that's a whole 'nother soapbox that I don't feel like dragging out right now.

Good to see you Linna :D

Great news Menolly!

Also good news TOM!

I'm in Bendigo with my daughter who is at a trampoline competition. It should be a lot of fun and a good experience for her (and it also means a few days off work for me - woo hoo!)

I have no idea what's involved in a trampoline competition, but I hope she wins and/or has a lot of fun. :S

And I wanted to use that emoticon. :S :S :S

A lot of fun will be the outcome :S

Well, they all do a few different routines on the run-and-jump bouncy thingy (also known as the double mini tramp), and a couple of trampoline routines. Also there are a species known as tumblers, and they flip their way down a long straight mat. They are all individually scored and the highest score is the winner. Actually the highest 10 scores compete in the finals and then the highest score is the winner.

Today my daughter competed in the double mini with around 100 others at her level, and came about 60th. She didn't make any mistakes, and scored quite well so she's happy. Tomorrow she's on the trampoline.

Tuesday. My workplace has been chosen (they made it sound like an honor) as one of the pilots for a new software system. In other words, we're beta testers. It started today. The problems had problems. They sent my minion to another location yet again, so I was my whole department. And my minion is getting sick of being sent to the other site - they're using him pretty badly, but he gets passive-aggressive about those things. I came in today and discovered that he had done all of his paperwork from yesterday in bright pink marker. I'm not sure what point he was trying to make, since I'm the one who had to redo everything and I'm absolutely not the one responsible for sending him all over creation.

Just send it in without re-doing it? Ask him why?

Sounds pretty sucky anyway. Me, I just remembered I've got 2 more days of work (not counting today) and then a week's leave.

So that's nice.

Av, hang in there. Fun time is fast approaching. Of course our post count is going to drop next week but as long as you are happy. :-)

Feels like a Wednesday.

I'm 100% responsible for verifying that everything is correct before it's submitted, and black pen is mandatory. As to why, it's because he's being passive-aggressive because he's annoyed at having to get up at 2 am to 'carpool' with a guy who makes him detour an hour out of his way to be picked up, when the guy with the car could make the same trip in 15 minutes. I've been on the receiving end of that, and it is a legitimate annoyance, and if he wanted to vent about it I would gladly listen. But if he's going to act like a petulant child, I'm not going to say anything about it. Anyway, software meltdown, day II. It's going to be a long week.

I dunno Sorus...it's not fair that him being pissed off is giving you more work to do. Think you should communicate that to him?

Ah, I'll try drop in if I feel like it. ;) Gotta use this leave...it's accumulated from last year and if I don't use it after two years I forfeit it.

In fact, after this week I'll still have 11 days left that I have to take before the end of the year. (And my leave from this year is still untouched, that will roll over into next year.)

(Damn, I can't believe the year is nearly over.)

That's not possible. I haven't celebrated my beloved Christmas Holiday yet.
In fact the middle of October we have to start decorating.
We host the annual family Christmas party and we go as far as possible on the decorations. I think we decorated 8 Christmas trees last year and plan to add a 9th this year. So much work but its so fun to see everyone's face light up when they come to our house. Its all worth it. That is until I have to start packing up all the crap in January.

That's it. From now on I will only be practicing Nerve Center songs.

What are you complaining about? You used to have to work with ME! I can't imagine what a nightmare that used to be. I was always bitching and complaining about how no matter what level you put your music I could still hear Evanescence! God! Its a wonder you survived it.

His English is very limited, and if it's something he doesn't want to hear, it's like talking to a wall.

I had to have a very uncomfortable (and unrelated) conversation with a superior yesterday, and that was like talking to a wall as well - I know he could understand me, but he never even looked up from his phone. I wanted to smack it out of his hands.

The whole finding-a-new-job thing isn't working out so well, and I've failed at writing a fictional story with the whole lot of them cast as villains. (It didn't work because it's all just so freaking petty.)

Option three is writing a thesis about the place. I'm not sure what the end goal of that is, but it seems viable. Jenn could do a better job of it. Jenn could combine the two and make it funny. I miss Jenn.
