Goodbye Christopher Robin
This film is not the sickly sweet foray into Pooh's world that many people would imagine, but rather a candid examination of the post-traumatic suffering of Milne and the catharsis that writing the stories at the behest of his son afforded him. The story examines how CR's parents, in the excitement of having a huge publishing sensation on their hands, allowed the ensuing publicity to suck in both themselves, but more damagingly their young son, to the expense of both family and childhood innocence. Dominic Gleeson is convincing as the prigish author, and Margot Robbie is, well, pretty detestable as the self-centred and cold mother. The boy who plays the young CR does superbly as the picture of innocence and there are some really touching moments in this well crafted and scenically produced film. However ......... don't expect to come away with your fond memories of Pooh and co intact; they will take somewhat of a bruising (through no fault of their own).
President of Peace? You fucking idiots!

'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'
