I wasn't sure I was going to like this but so far I am finding it to be pretty good. It's Star Trek, but comedy and campy. My wife says corny ... But pffft it's good stuff

Have watched a few episodes and though I had my doubts early on I can't help but like the series. Its soooo Star Trek The Next Generation with Family Guy humor and feels so familiar I am helpless against its gravitational pull.

The first two episodes I thought were dumb, and I'm not a Star Trek fan, so I don't know why I watch this show. Maybe because I like McFarlane best when he is not being his own stereotype. Which is why I want the ex-wife sleeping with someone else bickering to stop. I had this conversation with someone at work that yes, it is realistic and you would be very petty, but we don't want annoying reality - only reality when it suits us.
With that said, the third episode with the decision on the gender of the baby won me over, and I've been kinda hooked ever since.
But it really feel like Seth took a look at his life, and tried to think of another project, and said, "I want to be Kirk." And he had the pull to make it happen. It's such a blatant rip-off, but it is actually good, so ok.

Just watched that one last night...personally my least favourite so far...too serious / moralistic for the show I felt.

Also not quite sure why I'm watching it...so blatantly an NG ripoff...what did whoever owns ST now have to say?

Yeah, I was only 2-3 episodes in when I said that.

My main concern now is that there apparently won't be any decent or memorable music in the next 400 years.

Though I've said this about BSG and I'll say it again here: Why do people dramatically run through the entire ship to deliver a time-sensitive message instead of just using the comm units?!

It's more exciting. It's why so many shows are being set in the 80s these days - almost nobody had cell phones, which often kill certain plot lines. I'm curious what it is going to do to the second part of It. Of course Pennywise will disrupt cell coverage. Or we'll have a stupid Elm Street-like tongue coming out of the phone.

Seriously, what calamity could possibly explain why Celine Dion karaoke is a thing 400 years from now? I just hope whatever it is doesn't happen in my lifetime.

(No offense to any Celine Dion fans out there, but I had an ex-boss who played one of her albums on loop constantly for a month, and aaarrrgghh.)

That explains why I was a little disappointed when Commander Bortus was interrupted. I thought it was just my masochism flaring up, but lack of a soul makes sense.

Still watching and its still good. I think this show is going to continue to improve for a while. Just like many where the first year takes a bit to get going. This is the same... the first few episodes were good but I think they are moving in the right direction.

Yep, especially the last episode taking a shot at organized religion.
Something I really especially like about it is that nothing seems especially one sided in the topics they bring up. Even the third episode with Bortus and the sex of the baby could have gone the way the crew was fighting for, but it didn't, and Bortus was ok with the decision even though he wanted it to end a different way. And the latest episode was just a complete slam of religion in particular - that the things that happened were natural progressions for a culture. Very interesting and well-handled show, with the occasional dumb. I hope the quality stays up, but don't anticipate it.

The funny thing is that this is giving me a new respect for Seth McFarlane.

Probably old news to most folks here, but I live under a rock, so I've still been checking every week to see if there's a new episode. Good news is it's been renewed for a second season. Bad news is it probably won't air until next Fall. Erk. Want more now.
