It's a fairly common topic here too, but that might be a leftover from colonial days, what?

Nice and overcast today.

Do you get much seasonal variation in SA Av? And is that which you have (assuming the answer is yes) all to cock at he moment, in the same way as it is in the UK?

Well...it seems so to me, although not as much as other places. We're pretty sub-tropical here, so for example, the difference in sun-rise and sun-set times between summer and winter is relatively small...(only about an hour and a half between summer and winter) and although we think it gets pretty damn cold in winter, you would probably find our winters relatively mild.

All that said...yes...unseasonable weather is becoming the new norm.

Abnormal seems to be the new normal as far as weather is concerned. Last winter we had record-breaking rainfall. This summer we had record-breaking heatwaves. This winter is (so far) in the running to be one of the top five driest in the last hundred years. It was supposed to rain on Christmas. Not a drop. Now it's supposed to rain on NYD. I'm giving them my best skeptical look.

Two nights ago we had the oddest wind I have ever experienced in my neck of the woods. I got up to **** during the night ( it happens when you get older alright! ;) ) and there was a mighty wind blowing - but instead of the usual rises and falls in intensity, changes of direction and occasional lulls you normally get, on this occasion it was absolutely steady in both its force and direction, and it just went on and on and on. It was quite eerie in its effect, to the point where one of the customers in the shop made mention of it to me during the course of yesterday.

Now they're saying no rain for New Year's. I knew it. Of course, they might change their minds another six times between now and then. I don't know why I bother looking at the weather report.

We having some unusual cold round here right now. And we're one of the warmest places in the continental US. The only place warmer is southern California, close to Mexico.

Dropping below 50F (10C) tonight here in Miami Florida.

Much much colder with snow and wind chills in other states.

Overcast. Some rain yesterday, but not much, and none really forecast for today, but at least the heat has broken.

Do you get huge lightening lashed thunderstorms Av? I remember seeing a massive one in Varanasi and when I commented that I expected they got them all the time to an Indian local the following morning he said, "Oh no - my grandfather's eighty and he said he'd never seen one like it!

Really wow I wonder why that is.

Weve had extreme heat across the country, 36 to 43C been bleh... but peppered with some brief storms. Thunder, lightning and minimal rainfall. Some places got hail lol ..

Nothing like sitting outside watching a storm roll in.

Yeah we grab a bottle and watch the lightning and sit under cracks of thunder overhead. The animals dont like it. But we stable everyone and put the goats in their shed. And then sit back and watch the show 😁

Yeah the animals hate it! I had to fly through one yesterday - baggage was delayed by an hour because they weren't allowed out in the storm!

We've had off again on again rain and warmer temperatures the last couple of days. Though not yet back to those sunny warm days people come here for. ;)
