Yes - tonight, TUESDAY for the U.S. (not just my time zone in the U.S.)

so, yes, I mailed people.

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

Oh, I would believe it!
using things on a phone would probably drive me nuts...
8O

I made a webpage that has a functional chat room we can use.
I will PM you the link, Menolly!!
I can't guarantee it's super phone-friendly, (there've been mixed results) but it's pretty non-laggy.

Disclaimer: When I got the chatroom plug-in, I went with the free version, which has a cap of 5 people at one time.
(and we had more than 5 people around last night! Par-tay!)
Not that stuff on the internet always has to be free, though...

Also, Revan's suggested Google Hangouts for Watcher chats, which is pretty neat.
And I know people have done Watcher Chats on Hangouts before, so it has historical precedent!

Do you know the secrets of how ppl successfully Google Hangouts chats organized in the past? (I don't.)

Chatbane does have the virtue that we can SEE people are on chatbane.

Oh, also, people who are getting blank screen in chatbane or some such... have you ever tried the keyboard shortcut for "reload"? I find reload is sometimes helpful.

It could also be my connection .. chatbane seems so laggy is perhaps due to my connection. 🤷‍♀️

With your kw board .. is there a way of accomodating more than 3 people or whatever the limit is .. is there a way of extending it?

We might need to get someone techno savvy to do some digging.

Using chat bane is as frustrating as scoring with a mega hottie way out of your league only to find out you're in fact an android programmed to think he's a human with Ken doll genitalia.

Disappointing and aggravating with no pay off.

At least that's how I imagine what it's like to find out you're an android...

On a completely unrelated note anybody want to help me blow up a robotics factory later?

There is.
It looks like it's $8.25/month for a chatroom w/ 15 "seats."

That's an awesome idea.

I only looked at a few options for sites that would let you "make your own chat room."

This one seemed snazzy and did not require everybody to make a special account, (in this life where we have 15 billion passwords to remember!) and it also didn't put us in some crazy Internet social space where random people would be likely to "walk into" our chat room.

Not just your connection Sky. It is laggy. If you get a black screen, just hit enter to submit a blank message and it should display properly afterwards.

To do a hangout, you need the participants email addresses. (Gmail ones.)

But yeah, I like being able to see if people are in the chat...hangouts will not be visible to people who are on the forum.

Yes thats definitely not ideal .. so youd gave to keep chatbane open and monitor chatbane activity 🤔

Paying to extend capacity isnt ideal either Linna 😬 yeah lets see if we cant find a better work around. What was Revans chat thing .. did you guys try that 🤷‍♀️ and how was that 🤷‍♀️

Seems that its unlikely for a chatbane update .. from what Av has explained lol .. if we link something in chatbane that has larger capacity that might be a good work around 😬

ACTUALLY, something cool... only ONE or TWO people need to keep chatbane open & monitor chatbane activity.
I vote we assign this task to Millennials whenever possible.
Whaddya think? ;)

Google Hangouts.
Tried it that one night when you, Revan and I were all online like a week ago, and we three had all been on Chatbane.
It worked great!
(though this means I haven't tested it out with larger groups of people.)

Also, Revan is a great conversationalist in that context!
He came up with all the interesting questions to ask, like:
"What do you like so much about favorite subforum?"
"What other stuff do you like to read outside of SRD?"
"oh, LoTR? What's your favorite moment in LoTR?"
as well as the "what's up with things on the forum these days?"

Everytime I check chatbane nobody is there....

It's like they are avoiding me.... 8O

Did I do something wrong?
Was my dog bad? (I don't have one.. but)
Was my town bad?
Should I build an altar? Sacrifice a mole or squirrel or something? maybe
some fresh fruits or canned green beans??
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

I felt it first when I was younger,
A strange connection to the light,
I tried to satisfy the hunger;
I never got it right.
I never got it right.

So I climbed a mountain and l built an altar,
Looked out as far as I could see,
And everyday I'm getting older,
I'm running outta dreams.
I'm running outta dreams.

Nah, it's just that people haven't been in the habit of checking.

So far, we mostly have chats when someone suggests a scheduled time, and then 4-8 people converge on the Forum!
and log on all at the same time!

Or if I see someone on at the same time, I sometimes PM them.
BUT! Even with this approach, expect people to miss each-other.
The person sees the PM a few minutes after I sent it, and maybe I'm in a different window, and so-forth.

Oh you people... thats enough make me close up and let the gas build....

and then

I float away...

after a while I'll burst.. fly wildly around, land flat as a pancake
with my little eyes bugging out....
