Funny story .. and thats the Welsh Cob .. well their paddock has an electric perimeter fence .. one of them got spooked and reared up pulling nearly a km of fencing nylon down 🙄

They pulled and broke one isolator and the rest just went .. ugh .. huge nightmare .. and took hours to rethread and secure and one length snapped 🙄 cos I connected it as best I could but .. the proof will be in the testing. Its not currently live .. for obvious reasons.

So what began like a simple feed .. and then heading off to a lunch with friends .. turned into a major butt ache and we arrived an hour and a half late for lunch, Ahhh .. life, its full of surprises ;)

This Windrush affair has revealed all sorts of nasty behaviour on the part of our Government toward the immigrant community. On the back of a perceived hostility in the public attitude toward immigrants the government announced that it intended to create 'a hostile environment' for those living in the country illegally. Toward this end they drove mobile billboards around areas with high levels of non white peoples stating that illegal occupants faced jail and deportation and that they should go home. Deportees were advised that when they got home they should attempt to blend in by 'adopting the accent of their new home communities' and avoid speaking in the accent of the UK (in which no small few had been born) since it might attract hostility.
Teachers in some areas were instructed to make enquiries as to the legality of the occupation of their pupils within the UK and if this were found to be in doubt, to refuse them education. Amber Rudd the now Home Secretary has been forced to admit that certain areas were given quotas of deportation numbers which they were expected to carry out in given time periods.

This is a shameful catalogue of activities and I find it unbelievable that anyone could ever have thought that any of this was acceptable!

Pete, and now the Home Secretary has quit!
Seems to me that there was an agenda for a quota to be deported and there was a quick stab at an easy number without any genuine consideration.
They should first try running a Pied Piper through the place to find the rats that shouldn't be there.

I am a tired bugger today. Played firewood split catch and pass yesterday (albeit not much splitting). Last week was a week full of clauses and addendums toing and froing. Now I just want to lay on the couch all day. A new PS4 game (God of War) made its way into the house this past 2 weeks and I was eyeing that off. But it is Monday so I better get on with it.
I love a poached egg on soda bread toast..... with my cup of tea of course.
Well wishes to all.

Rudd, though no doubt partially responsible for what has happened here, can not be held solely to be so. Methinks she has 'taken one for the team' in the hope that one serious scalp will satisfy the bloodlust of the pack. Who knows......... maybe it will.

There was no option that involved Rudd staying in her post, but Theresa May would never remove her because it's May's own policies Rudd's in trouble for and she's in a very weak position in Parliament (also she's completely spineless). So Rudd had to resign, while May gets to keep saying she thinks Rudd made an honest mistake lying to Parliament and can act like nothing was done wrong.

Bloody garbage bag, inadvertently left open in the kitchen sink overnight. What a way to start the day.
When we rose this morning, the garbage bag had been got at by the cats and their favourite pork bones had been "stripped bone dry". There were dried bones all over the bloody place. In the kitchen, lounge room, dining room, hallway and study. As I was picking them up and baying for blood, the cats who were together in their "cat bed" in front of the fireplace looked up with big yawns and stretching legs like pointing arms, then gave me the look of "Whats the problem? and when are you gonna light this fire?"`
Then the dog came along with his tail waving wildly as if to say "Thank Christ it wasn't me! I have been in James room all night and didn't eat one of those nasty bones. Now, can I have some biscuits?"
So I fed the dog and headed off to the bathroom. As I headed up the hallway, I heard one of the cats snoring. I thought to myself "the life of a friggin cat eh? you little bastard", and then I stepped on pork bone. A solid 7 out of 10 on the pain scale too. Who'd be a human when you could be a cat?
The plan was to tell the story, which seemed ready to fall out of me, about the mischief that one or all three of my wifes cats had been up to over the course of the night. I started cleaning up as the house woke around me, and my wife and sons gave me a wide berth as I got on with it. As I got the goodby kiss on the cheek I thought, are they looking at me like I am a grumpy? So as I start to share this morning with you I realised that describing the 9 year old white devon rex named Nelson, and the two 7 year old Siamese brothers named Hades and Kronos would probably be better placed on that cat post on here....... I cant remember where I saw it.
The shower worked wonders, my foot is only a little sore, but the tea is good, and writing this has been its own therapy.
Today, I think the animals in our house are very lucky.

I think I got called a Patsy in the tank today!
The next time we get an animal (be it a cat or dog) into the house, I hope to be able to call it Gunga Din. Remembering that naming animals in our house has been a very democratic process, presided over by an autocratic missus.

Scotland has this week introduced its 'minimum unit price' policy in an attempt to reduce the ills of excessive alcohol consumption , both in terms of social and economic costs to the nation. At its most swingeing points (eg the cost of 2litre bottles of the cheapest cider) this can mean an increase of 3 times the current price making them an all but unviable product against more quality brands which already retail at prices above the minimum unit price, and thus escape any increase.
While one naturally has to be in favour of measures to limit the damage to society by this most ubiquitous of 'drugs', does the means have to be so skewed towards hitting those at the minimum income level of society. Instead of being a levy that is applied to all alcoholic products, cheap and more expensive alike, this is aimed wholly at the low end of the market which is naturally that purchased by those with the lowest incomes. The message is thus 'if you're rich, drink as you like - but if you are poor, we'll take away even the little you can afford'. And the real risk is that this will just not have it's intended effect at all, and that people will simply cut back on other things (at worst their children's food and clothing) in order to keep purchasing one of the few windows of brief escape that they can (or could up until now) afford.
No my take is, by all means, do things to lessen the scourge of excessive alcohol consumption - but make them fair and do them across the board, not simply directed at those with least ability to pay. And damn we'll make sure you use the additional revenue taken solely in pursuit of helping those already caught in the downward spiral of alcoholism!
