Did I forget to do the self-portrait thread this year? I was just looking through my pictures and noticed I didn't have a selfie more recent than June, and I can't see the thread on the front page here...

Thankfully, most of the to do lists for the house have been completed. I wouldn't recommend the method of getting it done. The fire in my house back in October 2016 and the clean up afterwards cleared up two of the three big expenses that the house needed to be fixed: A new roof and a remodeled kitchen. That leaves only the third, repaving the driveway and replacing the concrete for the back patio.

I was just thinkin' about how the way of things getting done often is not as satisficatory as we could wish...

sky, vomiting up a lung - or what felt like it... eek, wretched...

murrin- I had almost the same thought; I totally noticed you didn't re-bumpify the 2018 New Year's self-portrait thread.

Noww... a story from the other day...

I was with the kiddoes... and I was searching for a word...
It was from a story of Sorus':
See, one of Sorus' cats was using body language to suggest that her human MIGHT want to get down the laser pointer and operate it, if said human... you know, knows what's best for her.
(Cats as mob bosses... love it....)

Anyway, the littler kid, the 7-year-old, without missing a beat, says, "Capiche?"
I'm like, "yes, that's it!"
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

Yes, Director Donner wears the pants around here, at least figuratively. (There's yet another line SRD probably wouldn't have expected his work to inspire.)

What an ordeal, Damelon.

I'm not sure that qualifies as down time.

I HAVE all those things to do ... but am feeling ok with procrastinating today.

Meh...both hard drives on my home pc are failing simultaneously. On the plus side, I've never managed to catch it this early either, so have ordered a 2TB internal drive, (should be delivered today) which I will install, and then clone my C drive onto.

Then I'll boot off that drive, partition it, and clone my secondary drive onto the new partition.

Hopefully I can entirely avoid having to re-install stuff. Wish me luck. :D

Oh...and it's Monday...meh.

Haha, well, it appears to have worked, so..yay? :D

Will do proper testing when I get home today, but early indications are very positive. (It booted and the prog and game I tested worked.)

That's a good sign. I am perpetually out of hard drive space, but if I add more, it will just encourage me to make more stuff.

Hahaha, the eternal conundrum...if you have more space, you will use it. :D About a year ago I made a vow not to buy any more external hard drives, swearing I would start deleting stuff instead. :D

So far so good, but if you include the internal drives on mine and the GF's PC's, I'm sitting with about 13TB of storage, all mostly full. (Really must clean some stuff out.)

Anyway, all looks good. Seems the drive failure was in sectors used by my steam library, so some games have to be re-installed, but it's still picking up the files that remain, so don't have to do full downloads, only the missing files.

So much easier than re-installing...this will be my go-to method now. :D

Games, movies, series, progs, stuff that could really be deleted. I have problems deleting stuff though...digital hoarding...it's a thing...
