My ginger is curled up on my lap. He slept with us and the doggos, as he likes to be warm and cosey, more than he cares to scamper. Hes an old boy now at a less than sprightly 13.

My other two come and go .. my raggie is rarely at home .. just comes in to eat and whine

hes such a little princess. And my short haired Moggie is the youngest at 2yo and he is snuggled up on the couch AND slept with us part of the night .. hes a little get about but hes often more subdued in winter, preferring warmth and comfort to adventure.. and hes becoming sooooo much more snuggly as he morphed out of adolescence.

Well, She has been in every day this week. Always glad to see her growly, hissing face, but I know there's going to be a slip at some point and a cat-fight will ensue.

And as much of a fighter as She is, she's more interested in getting away than in standing her ground. It's because she didn't want to defend territory that she ended up leaving while the others stayed I guess.

My youngest is at the vet getting a bad tooth pulled - had to stay overnight due to my work schedule. Going to pick her up in a couple of hours. Not her first overnight at the vet, but Min is being weird about it - she came running up to me when I came home from work and then slowly backed away all big-eyed like what have you done with my sister?

Its been windy here today .. again

and my oldest cat and my youngest cat went to town on each other ... but they get all frisky and aggro in the wind .. weirdos

my oldest is most definitely the alpha and he just got is butt kicked

Think I've mentioned before Penny's propensity for catching and bringing home bird eggs...well...yesterday took the cake... She brought home a potato.

One of those small new potatoes, probably about the size of a medium sized bird egg.

She must have found it around the bins and brought it back. Found her batting it around on the carpet and first thought it was an egg.

Pretty funny.

That's actually a very useful skill. Who wouldn't want free potatoes? Though I still think she's trying to tell you something. Not 100% sure what, but it probably involves a breakfast request.

It would have been more useful if it hadn't been a slightly dubious potato from the bins, but yes, it did occur that it could be useful. If, of course, it could be performed on command.

You might be able to train her. One of my old cats would fetch like a dog (foam balls and whatnot, no potatoes). It was pretty easy to hone his abilities and get him to do it on command - giving him praise and treats for doing something he liked doing anyway. None of my current brood have any retrieving inclinations, and I wouldn't even know where to start training them. (Oh, you threw me a ball? That must mean you want me to shove it under the couch and lose interest.)

Life is too short to try and train my cats. Except obviously for the bad habits we've already trained them into accidentally.

My cats prefer to train us .. apparently we are utterly trainable .. I gather this from their immense success

Our cats have no mind for any training. They only crap and pee accurately in the trays because they are fastidious by nature I reckon.
They will come when called sometimes, although always when there is food.
One thing which does gets them standing to attention is a toy fluffy fish I have on the end of a long line and short rod. I make sure they get exercise "cat fishing" as I cast the line around and they go nuts chasing and catching the fish. They don't notice how tired they are getting when theyre doing it.
We bough a fancy little toy mouse which backs and swivels and runs away using a Bluetooth controller...... but the cats prefer the fish on a string every time.

Mine nearly always prefer low-tech toys. I once dropped $30 on a battery-operated gizmo that ran a 'mouse' in circles under a piece of fabric. I thought they might go for it since they get excited when I put one of their toys under a rug or whatnot. Yeah, should have stuck with that. For one thing, the powered version was LOUD. They weren't exactly afraid of it, but they were wary. One finally worked up the nerve to go and sit on the fabric, and the mechanical arm swung around and smacked her foot. She slowly stood up and walked away with her nose in the air - just an amazing expression of dignified disgust. "This... thing... it touched me. Away with it!"

Haha, back in the easy days when I only had one cat, I had the bright idea of trying him with a little RC car...he wouldn't go near it, unless it was off, in which case he would suddenly leap on it.

Yeah...story of my damn life.

Opened the door at 02h30 this morning to find my She-Demon crouched outside...she's been coming in at pretty regular intervals every few days ever since her re-appearance, always in full fight mode in case one of the others should try something, and always between 02h00 and 04h00 ish. Poor thing.

Meh they probably in their own strange way appreciate the little things you do .. I dont imagine theyll ever show any appreciation .. but somewhere on the inside .. they know what side their breads buttered on

I love the colder weather ONLy cos we get kitties willing to snuggle with us ..

for our body warmth .. its starkly different in the hot months :LOLS:
