Haha, it's going strong in my head anyway.

And the South Coast of KZN here is famously slow and laid back...weather is nice too. Maybe you should reconsider emigrating...

KwaZulu Natal sounds and looks amazing.

Pete its sooooo not good for us. I often think of road rage as a perfect example of impatience .. and how spontaneously enraged peeps get if they have to wait for longer than they want to

.. I have to go facebook aka radio silent on this one .. cos not allowed to make any public announcements of any kind .. but Im a nanny and sooo excited I feel like Im going to burst lol

ok so my son Alex who has been staying with us is a videographer and he .. as he always does .. said he had a 1st bday video to share with us as we couldnt get down to Melbs for Rileys first bday on ANZAC Day. So we are expecting this lovely birthday movie slash video ..

And at the end after highlights of her first year he has a TODAY flag .. then an ultrasound .. with a date of February 2019. Of course it went straight over my head ... at first .. then Trev said what is this? And they told us Kat is currently 8 weeks pregnant. :LOLS:

I always shed a few tears through his videos cos he is quite the artist .. but I was shocked and deleriously overjoyed and cried and cried and hugged them both and its soooo wonderful.

I had just said to them .. I have one of our spare bedrooms done up for kids, with bunk beds, a toddler bed, huge dolls house, toys and kiddly books .. and suggested they fill the room with grandchildren .. and he said no .. theyre not going to even think about having kids till Riley is 3yo.... such liars

Sooooooo happy and soooooo excited.

So I think today is a very, very amazing day .. and they leave tomorrow morning.

She has a complication to manage, in that the foetus attached too high or something that results in her bleeding. So there is a higher risk of miscarriage but theyll monitor it .. and she shouldnt be carrying heavy weights .. like Riley .. which she IS doing .. but I understand that she cant really not. But fingers crossed all continues well.

Wonderful to feel the joy in your post Sky; very happy for you all and strong wishes for a successful and easy process with a fine result in seven(ish) months time.

Back to the humdrum .......... I read that upwards of fifty percent of all clothes ordered on the internet are returned to the sender for whatever reason. What an incredible level of waste! Time, effort etc in the first place but more significantly, unnecessary driving and it's concomitant pollution and adverse effects on our world. Surely there should be a campaign to make people aware of the damage that this irresponsible level of ordering/returning causes? (Not even to think of the effect that online buying is having on our highstreets. What silly, blinkered things we are

Well I pretty much purchase all my clothes online .. as a matter of fact .. and have never had to return anything at all. Plus if its slightly not perfect I will just adapt it myself. I mean all the measurements are provided .. cant see how you can go too far wrong ..

so that is a surprising statistic ..

But cant argue that we are silly blinkered things :LOLS:

Buying clothes is a rare and exiting thing for me Sky. Once every few years I go out and go to the best shop in town and get the best quality stuff I can find that suits my old fashioned taste. I couldn't dream of doing it online, BUT do shop for pretty much everything else online, so I'm as guilty as the next on that score. But like you, I don't send stuff back unless the problem is egregious or the cost of not doing so exhorbitant. It's the simple waste that gets me; I have people in the shop who order stuff by the cartload - and never keep any of it. This statistic simply hammered home what I already knew had to be a mounting problem.

Yeah the sad fact is that we live in a disposable society these days .. I mean not many of us darns socks, or alters clothing, or utilises everything we purchase. I try to .. and for the most part do .. for all our projects around the property ... its awesome to utilise stuff that would otherwise not be used or go to waste.

I was at Mona farm the other day and what a fabulous place that is .. the guy who built Mona farm is who the town is named after. He came out from England with a sick wife who he adored. She missed the English country side so he .. made Mona an idyllic English escape for her, he planted beautiful English gardens, and old stone bridge over the lake .. which looks to have been man made .. and theres a walled garden .. a secret garden

.. the place is a complete dream. I love all of that .. our property is similar .. but not on the grand scale Mona is.

In a main hall .. which was in the old wool shed .. there are lights made out of plastic milk cartons, and wall murals made of all sorts of stuff .. many people would simply toss out .. but as murals they are actually amazing and a nod to the past.

I made mental notes of all the clever and ingenious ideas .. so I can replicate some of them here. Of course on a much smaller scale.

Sky congratulations on the news, and I hope and trust all are thrilled and well.
Pete, I have had my moments - when I had to queue for something - I found myself checking emails on the phone which I had already checked 30 seconds beforehand. I tend to try to be more observant in those scenarios nowadays.

Anyway, what a nice weekend. With the fire constantly on, I managed to stay home what seemed like most of the time. Only had to get in the car twice.
The smell of savory foods, roast beef and root veg, a few sips of Lagavulin on Saturday Night, and a great Sunday afternoon nap. I never even noticed the chores I actually finished. That's Hobbiton! (even if the Rabbitohs came 2nd)

Buying clothes online is a gamble...a picture can't replicate seeing (and especially feeling) something in person. So I'm not surprised a large proportion of clothes purchased online are returned.

Like Peter, I only buy clothes every few years...if that. And since all I ever wear are jeans and t-shirts, it's not something I put a lot of effort into.

All I buy online are books, games and computer hardware.

Living in a small rural village there are no malls, shops etc nearby to shop at. And to be honest I personally hate the whole trying on clothes, if I see something I like .. I just buy it.

Thats true that some things may look a certain way on the computer but be quite different in rl. But Ive been pretty lucky .. I use the size guides always check the specs, material, etc .. and although I do wear a range of clothes .. my main wear is jeans and tops throughout the week.

I HATE paying a lot of money .. well tbh for pretty much anything .. I dont have to

And clothes are definitely up there for that .. Ill spend good money on on some things

.. but not clothes .. Im not a designer label person .. I think Id be physically sick if I spent the kind of money some friends spend on clothes, bags, dress shoes etc.

I recently bought great value bedding online that I am very pleased with.

Online shopping!! I would say it can be a good experience with the appropriate size checking.
The only thing I have seen go wrong is with shoes. I buy business shirts online, but not suits.
The return process is a waste of time and cost to everyone.

Gotta say that the main online retailers here really make it easy to return stuff.

(The GF buys a lot of clothes shoes etc. online. Gods know why...it's not like we go anywhere...

Av, I summarize the why in two words: "retail therapy." In my experience, buying such is a therapeutic ritual for them.

My understanding is slight, but I recognize that it is an entirely reasonable price for domestic harmony...and to the extent they permit us our rituals that they don't entirely understand, why not return the favor?

Today I drove out to that property .. soooo much to do .. and I dont leave till Sunday .. so may be off line for a week as limited internet access out there.

But Ill be busy from sun up to sun down .. and theres a GSP pup

So every now and again I get these random text messages or emails telling me I have won a "New iPhone x" or "My free $400 skin cream prize is ready for collection"!!! Then I think that these people must rip a lot of people off....
Otherwise they'd be out of business by now wouldn't they?

Hope everyone is well and behaved. I have been busy as a 3 speed walking stick and have not had much time to come up for anything but air.
I did have a quick look at the tank and the vinegar is rich in the water over there.

I am on a self imposed exile from grown up debates on international topics for a little while. I just have too much humour in me for serious debate

, and so much serious debate has ended in shouting and disappointment instead of acknowledgement and enlightenment.

There may have been a time where I was liberated and refreshed by the joy in exchanging views, but there is nothing refreshing about a debate which spends a lot of energy on whether you are left or right, and then gets really ugly. I think how would I like it if I was to see my brother or sister being treated that way because they dared to argue points which others have cashed and banked again already.
There is only so much pigeonholing one can take before turning to comedy! Even the comedy has a pigeonhole waiting for it there. And the comedy added to sarcasm and a linguistic divide and a different point of view, is as lifting as a plate falling off a table.
It is like drinking alcohol from a paper cup. Maybe I will wait until I am ready to bring my own glass.

Today I think that with Mars so close to earth, I am feeling decidedly more druidic and earthy than I usually do. Chances are if I am a good boy that some magic will happen.... fingers crossed for a little luck.
