I see the apple doesnt fall very far from the tree ;) Good attitude .. and anyway you absolutely HAVE to be positive. As for your brother it will be a take each day as it comes kinda journey .. Youd be surprised how many people suffer traumatic brain injuries and go on to make complete recoveries or close to .. depending on the extent of their injuries.

I absolutely hate hospitals .. and you cant not be there. But its sooo easy to get run down yourself .. so you have to make sure you take breaks, EAT, REST, and get sleep .. to keep you going strong.

Believe me, have had enough drama in life from him. I can so not be there. Like I said, waiting 'til he's awake before I start visiting. Doesn't mean it's not tiring anyway, but at least that part of it will be relatively limited.

Thanks Sorus. Yeah, not much fun. He's still unconscious, but they've decided he needs an op, so they've transferred him to a bigger hospital, and I have to go sign consent papers. Not really looking forward to it. Let's say it's not in a great part of town...

Thanks Menolly.

All looking relatively good I suppose. Surgery scheduled for Friday, they basically have to re-attach some of his ribs to the rib-cage, then once that's done, they'll be able to let him wake up.

On the positive side, tomorrow is a public holiday. :D

That is good news .. I imagined it was brain surgery .. so that is good and that they can wake him up .. another good sign.

Hope all goes well.

Same, though rib-reattachment sounds rather serious and not at all fun. Makes mine hurt just thinking about it, and the worst I've done to mine is cracked them, which was a few months of there not being any comfortable position to sleep in. Ugh.

I was struck by a bicyclist who was trying to catch a train - went though about 4-5 people on the platform, but at least he didn't miss his train. Same year I was hit by a car in a hit-and-run - the bike did a lot more damage. Results may vary, I don't recommend either option, and I hope both driver-types get carried off by hungry pterodactyls.

Well, I assume they'll be able to wake him up afterwards. Guess will find out more today. Otherwise, all good. National Woman's Day yesterday, so public holiday. Now back at work just for Friday.

Still, short day, so that's good.

Sorus! So sorry. Ugh.

I did not fall off the face of the earth; rather, school began, which is not completely different from that. It's been a great start.

I ranted here several days ago about frustrations. The outcome of all of that was good. I was listened to (a new experience for me) and in the end things became more equitable across the school for all the teachers involved. Win!!

It's Friday afternoon and I am heading home now. Also win!!

For those following my cancer recovery journey, I thought y'all would be pleased by my latest update.

If you recall, my reconstruction surgeon wanted me to go from 233 lbs before surgery, to 200 lbs, or less, before she would put me on the operating table for 12+ hours (I'm doing FLAP surgery from my abdomen, rather than implants, hence the extended operating time). The day after my surgery, I weighed 222 lbs (bye-bye boobies), and I started keto that day.

As a 5' 4" 58 year old woman, who is extremely sedentary and is also a thyroid cancer survivor (so I have no thyroid, making me extremely hypothyroid), and living with CML, a form of leukemia, weight loss is extremely slow for me.

Today I hit my first mini goal. Six weeks in to keto, and I am down 10 lbs from my starting point. 212 baby! 12 more pounds to go until I reach out to my surgeon again to schedule the next step.

Woohoo!

It was a few years ago. Just a bit of empathy for what Av's brother is going to be facing.

Nice

And I .. hope hes doing ok. These things tend to take the long road .. though you wish there was a shorter way to complete recovery.

Weve been out and about all day .. and its been soooo very windy .. I absolutely hate the wind .. and all the damage it does and all the work it causes. So sitting in front of the fire with a nice glass of red .. and enjoying the calmative scent of my daphne .. Trev cut a sprig and we have it in a vase on the window sill. Nice

Menolly, ten pounds is a feat at any age or size! Well done!!

Buck of the dawn (my adult son) was diagnosed with keratoconus, a rare eye disorder where the lens becomes cone shaped, which does weird things to your vision. So he has to wear specialized contacts and wear coke-bottle glasses forever... :/ Fawn of the dawn (adult daughter) started a new job. She used to work with troubled teens, and now works with small children, and she says it's "really easy". :D

It's a nice, boring Sunday afternoon. I just finished binge watching the Harry Potter movies. Thinking of baking some banana bread with ginger in it. Had Indian food for lunch after church, so the banana bread will probably be dinner. :)

Congrats Menolly.

No news really on my side, surgery done, but he was still sedated and on the ventilator last I spoke to them, so will see if that's changed today.

Otherwise, Monday...meh...
