So,
1) I've been away since Thursday at Nine Worlds Geekfest, which was fun.
2) I saw Fun Home the Musical and Hamilton, which were both great.
3) I came home to no internet connection, and my provider can't get an engineer out until Wednesday, so I'm using my phone tethered to the PC to get online. WoW expansion launches tonight, so this is really annoying, but it apparently doesn't use much data outside of patches.

Feeling a bit miffed today. Made what I consider to be my best post yet, and noone noticed.

That is definitely a very visual description, and I think it was probably wise not to post it in the galley. I hope it tasted better than it looked.

I managed to get tomorrow off, but between vet and dentist appointments, I'm not sure if I will be getting much bonus WoW time out of it. 5 minutes 'til launch.

It's the start of the latest expansion - new zones, new levels, new storylines, new STUFF basically. Things to see, things to do, things to kill, and save the day and whatnot.

It's kinda fun reading y'alls updates on this page.

Luke- hey, why don't you slap a link to that post onto this thread:
peter's "Your favorite Posts!" thread
It got off to a bad start because saying what you think is the best of your own work is counter-cultural....
...but in retrospect, I think it's a great idea.
If you do, I will match your donation.
Of a post.
With a post.
(i.e. I've been thinking of posting on that thread for awhile... and didn't.)

I agree!
Clearly this means we're supposed to go and "goodpost" ones of his we like... put some thanks on those posts.

Today I hit my first mini goal. Six weeks in to keto, and I am down 10 lbs from my starting point. 212 baby! 12 more pounds to go until I reach out to my surgeon again to schedule the next step.

Woohoo!
Oh, good stuff, Menolly!

Over here, I am avoiding the fact that I have to move not-so-successfully, hanging out with neighbors a little, and I'm up to other crazy hijinks too.

Yesterday morning I SKYPE'd with my dad. Haven't skyped with him since the beginning of the summer, and I've been eaten up with guilt a bit.
So happy we were able to sorta pretty much talk like normal.
I was able to tell him that my fam's moving, and so that's a weight off my shoulders.

Also, amusingly, before calling my dad, I told my kiddo "We average about 48 minutes for our conversations."
Got off the call, and as is often the case in Actual Real Life, the call length was determined by factors not just under my control.
It was almost 48 minutes on the head.

:LOLS:

Linna I am soooo happy for you .. first that you caught up with your dad .. well done you.

Now sweets .. you gotta dump the "guilt" thing .. its such an unhealthy emotion .. for sure if you have actually done something wrong its a helpful emotion as it leads you to a point where you want to make amends and put in place measures to avoid repeating the wrong.

But not calling your dad is not a "wrong" .. its a thing you have yet to do.

Love yourself and be kind to yourself .. your you .. carries you through this whole life .. thats both your mind and your body. Gotta be good to both. ❤️❤️

I bet you do :(

Of late youve had to deal with things that would exhaust the strongest of us. 🤞 you do get a few days off to rest and recuperate.

Worked late every day this week, when all I wanted to do was play WoW. But I have a new boss, and turning down work isn't going to make a good impression, plus Phedre decided to be expensive on her vet visit (bad tooth), so I can't turn down extra money.

But now I finally have time to play WoW and I just want to go to bed early.

I'm playing now, but it's questionable how much longer I will last. I'm pushing because I'm halfway to a goal that most of my group has already attained. I'd probably be better off continuing in the morning, but I'm stubborn.

This juxtaposition amused me.
Made me think of the wrong sort of "boss" for a split-second there, but...
Anyway, how does the new boss at work seem to you, Sorus?

Over here, I had a bit of a tiring day... but encouraged near the end of the day by reading books on classroom management / teaching.

...Also, two days ago, my kid starting public school was fun. 6th grade. The plan is to put him in contact with other very nerdy students. So far, so good. He's pretty happy. And likes his teachers as well.

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
