Perhaps count down to retirement oh ok .. its years for you .. so mmm.. what else can you do to while away the days?
Today was a great day .. we went into Canberra to pick up our car, after hitting a roo the front has been entirely rebuilt. So looks good now. We went to check out wood in the hardware store, bought a new BBQ .. ours is on the fritz .. and I got some petunias to brighten up the windows. Got a lot of stuff sorted .. so am ready to do some reorganising at home. I bought a new sewing machine too cos the one I had the bobbin spindle broke off .. and ridiculously thats the end of the machine.
All in all a great day

Today was good. Now due to a Muslim holiday school is closed for two days, giving me a chance to catch up on grading (Yes, week 3 of school and already I'm behind!!) and chill out. Stag of the dawn is in Lagos for a few days so.... HOUSE TO MYSELF!!! (Relatively speaking. In Nigeria your house is never your own.)

Made me think of the wrong sort of "boss" for a split-second there, but...
Anyway, how does the new boss at work seem to you, Sorus?
This grind doesn't involve any epic loot.
I'm still on the fence about the new boss. She's better than the old boss - which is to say, she actually seems interested in following the law and whatnot, so that's a step up.
Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?
This has been a long week, but next week will be another long week that either involves OT at work, or jury duty. Not sure which I'd rather do, not that I'll have a choice.

I've been serving on a jury for over a week now. Obviously, I can say nothing about the case, but I purely detest the commute into Seattle, which has gotten worse (if such is possible) since I retired at the end of last year.
Worse yet, the combined wildfire smoke from British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California has brought this area the poorest air quality in a century. I've had a tightness in my chest, inability to draw a full breath, and have been achy / feverish for a few days. On top of that, I have to give Menolly a wide berth, in case I am wrong about it being related to air quality. With her leukemia, I can't risk passing an illness to her. Neither does Dam-sel want to catch anything, although the threat is rather less for her.
Do I care about infecting my fellow jurors, the lawyers, court personnel, folks on the commute buses? Sort of, but not nearly as much.

Let them take their chances. Feeling a bit headachy myself.
On the plus side, I guess, my brother is out out ICU, although still intubated apparently. Gonna have to go visit him now that he's awake, so that to look forward to. Meh.
Got a little energiser bunny puppy for the weekend .. oh boy this one is going to be tricky .. fingers crossed she actually sleeps
I got my eldest daughter coming home for the weekend .. and then picking up Darth on Monday Am so excited to see them both .. its like having two of my kids coming home to visit with mum and dad

Oh yeah.. and it's almost spring! there. real spring; not that fake-out spring that is really fall.
We are expecting to hear about that Welsh pony foaling.
lemmmme think... now what... you're picking up Darth soon - cool!
SD- I hadn't thought about Menolly's leukemia and stuff... darn.
So like, what she's on for that is like a constant, less-extreme-than-some-kinds kind of chemo? :-/
we are having an okay weekend. I'm tired; we're moving in a week.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
