Because Gilbur didn't hit him on the head hard enough?

Thank you!

Of course, in your Artagel thread, it looks like you were about to post the answer yourself I think it is at the end of that next scene that this comes up...)

Next post will have my question (which I've had in reserve for quite some time... ;) )

How does Terisa describe Stead's demeanor after he wakes her up?

You are right about that, Sanity, as it is in the end of that scene with Artagel and Lebbick (that I'm in a slow process of posting in a series of quotes). It may take awhile before I get to the quote, but it should show up in that thread sooner or later. :)

As to your question, I'm guessing Terisa saw Stead as mildly offended.

Sorry, Cord, that isn't what I'm going for.

Once again, SRD has painted a very specific image that I want to see in the answer.

Uh, sheepish, uh, for some reason, I want to say something like "a little boy who couldn't get what he wanted."

Dunno if that's even in the ballpark though, but it's what my brain threw up...

That is Sooo close, I was almost inclined to give it to you. Then I went to grab the actual quote for comparison and realized that it really won't do. What you describe is a passive state - I'm looking for something more active.

Again, the impression SRD conveys has nuances and connotations that are relevant to the scene and story...

Like Geraden playing dress-up as Eremis?

Actually, that's closer than you think, but clothes don't make the man in this case.

One of her thoughts at about that time in the story was that Stead looked like Geraden trying to do an imitation of Master Eremis, with only partial success.

That's the one I was looking for! :) I would interpret the phrase less as "only" partial success and more like "with more success than might be expected."

In any case, your question...
