I don't really want to share the road with those idiots though. Scares me even as a passenger. I have a vision problem that makes me almost completely blind in direct sunlight or other bright light, so it's less haven't bothered to learn, and more would be irresponsible and dangerous to learn. It's a hereditary thing that several people in my family have and it hasn't stopped them, so we come full circle to idiots on the roads.

Some days it is in the delivery. Most days it is in the delivery. A conversation with my dear wife comes to mind:

"There you are. How did you go?"
"Hello Kizza, Wow, what a morning, am I glad to be home!"
"Hey love, been busy here too. I finished the yard, and used the blower out front, and took that ute load of scrap metal to the tip. I also got the chookhouse sorted and am taking junior down to his mates for the sleepover before I come back for a shower."
"Oh that's great! What are we doing tonight?"
"Oh and the recycling money for the scrap is up there for you, in the jar on the fridge. The cat trays are done and the dog has been brushed. I cleaned the fireplace and its stacked and ready to go, oh and the baskets are full of wood too by the way."
"Oh Good."
"I am watching the grand final around at Bennys place remember? Do you wanna come too?"
"Aw, not really. But you go on ahead. His place will be bedlam today and I want to relax a little. Is that what all the beer and wine is for?"
"Yes. But I wont take it all if you are not going as well"
"It'll be over by 7 wont it?"
"No, it doesn't start until 7"
"Really?"
"Yeah. Um Thanks, so will you drop me off and pick me up so I can have a few drinks watching the game? Then maybe we will jam for a little while? I promise we wont go as late as the last time"
"The last time you came home at 4 in the morning. How can you jam until 4 in the morning?"
"But that was when Johnno set his drum kit up, and hey there is only one grand final a year, and I wont be as late this time!"
"Kizza!"
"Yes dear?"
"He doesn't live that far away, you can walk."

Some days are diamonds.... and the line between right and wrong deserves retrospective consideration. Above is an example of last years condemnation of my own selfish asshole streak. It has been known to happen over the years on grand final days.
I will try to be better this year. I will try really hard. Really try.

As a follow up to last years "festival of the boot", I can report that I was home by 10:30pm because Bennys wife kicked us all out, and so I remained in the good graces of my dear wife.

This year there is the Magpies and the Eagles on Saturday for the kick and clap competition, with the main prize being played out by the Storm and Roosters on Sunday night for rugby league ahead of the Monday public holiday.

There will be a gathering of less than 10 people in my back shed where a bbq will precede the sunday match ... The guys are bringing their wives .. To watch a game on tv..
Some of the girls are not back shed types, so I will wager that the ladies will end up inside the house before too long.

I love a festival of the boot.... it allows me to remember how much I loved playing for all of those years, and how much I miss those times.
Dear Wife knows this, and she compensates beautifully for me.

Now, I wonder which t-shirt I should wear..... the "I do my own stunts", or the "Sorry I am late, I didn't want to come" t-shirt.

It was art first, the rest nowhere for pretty much most of the visit Kizza!

Visited all of my favourite works in the National Gallery and neighbouring Portrait Gallery. Saw the Thomas Cole exhibition and also had a quick flip round the V&A. Went to Buckingham Palace where we saw the current exhibition of treasures from the sub continent, the Mews where all of the State carriages are on display together with a few horses and sundry tack etc, and the State Rooms in the Palace proper.

Had a pretty decent lunch at L'atelier Joel Roubechen in Covent Garden and also (bit ashamed of this one) did the Jack the Ripper walk around the City and East End. Grisly stuff I'm afraid - but also lots of social history included to offset the prurient aspect with a bit of education.

I get the ewww .. aspect .. but one of the places Id like to visit if I ever come to London, is the Tower of London.

Ive been getting ready for my youngest sons return and animal minding bookings have been increasing as the weather has been improving. And we have a number of new clients which is also lovely. At one of the properties we visited, a little girl was ready with a rather long list of questions it was adorable.

It was a toss up between the Tower and the Palace Sky. E. and I have both seen the Tower in the past however, albeit a long time ago, and the Palace is somewhere we both fancied seeing. To be honest, I found it a bit ....... faded perhaps....... for all it's grandeur. It seemed wholly fitting that the huge ornate period rooms should be heated by huge ornate electric bar fires for example!

Well Im think I am the luckiest mum in the world as I now have my youngest son home and we have been having soooo much fun catching up ..

Its been a busy period with animals of late and looks to be getting busier throughout the next couple of months too.

tbh I kinda like the slower periods .. though its nice to have a little extra income .. lol

David Beckham is in the news for having avoided punishment in respect of a speeding offence. His eagle eyed brief apparently rumbled that the notification letter of the offence was a day late being delivered, rendering it non-servable and thus the footballer was able to escape prosecution on a technicality. This raises a number of questions; how many others, not happy enough in their finances to employ the services of a brief on such a matter have been punished when in fact the same situation pertained, but they were unaware of it. Would the courts automatically inform them of such a breach - or like Brer Fox would they "lie low and say nuffin" and allow the law to take it's usual course? That such an error should occur in the case of Beckham alone seems almost to me like winning the lottery in terms of its unlikelihood - unless the multimillionaire does indeed have his own private line to the Almighty, or perish the thought, friends in high enough places to make such 'mistakes' happen. Whatever the case one can't but help getting a whiff of something fishy in the business, which reminds me of the old chestnut pertaining to laws being like fishing nets; strong enough to catch the small fry but not enough so that the big fish can't break through.

I ordered a new old guitar recently. Second hand. It is due here in three days. Epiphone Sheraton. I think I will love it until I realise I am not John Lee Hooker after all. But hey hey hey! I wonder if I will give it a name? Very exciting.

I'm reminded of that terrible accident with the old and valuable guitar on the film set of The Hateful Eight. How could such a mistake happen - no wonder Kurt Russell was mortified! In respect of John Lee Hooker and your not being him Kizza, I can only quote "A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a Heaven for?"

Fantastic band that I had the pleasure of seeing live on two occasions. Shane McGowan was at least moderately sober on both as well . The band's real skill was making their music sound totally spontaneous, as though a dozen guys had stepped up onto a pub stage for a jam, but the result was still tight as a tick. Musicians have to be true masters of their craft to pull of that trick!

Did anyone see the news footage of Theresa May 'dancing' onto the stage at the Tory Party Conference the other day. It was not good dancing alas, and bore an uncanny resemblance to the notorious ear-cutting scene from Reservoir Dogs in which Michael Madsen, aka Mr Blonde, performed a somewhat similar hoof across the warehouse floor. Not well advised PM - not well advised at all!
