Avatar, I thank you! I think I'm going to search through some chapter early in the MN story to come up with a new trivia question. Something from one of the early chapters of The Mirror Of Her Dreams.

All right, here it is: After a meeting of the Congery, Master Eremis takes Terisa Morgan to his quarters, only for them to be interrupted by Geraden claiming he is in Eremis' debt, and therefore must serve him now in gratitude.

What reason did Geraden give for his being in Eremis' debt?

Haha, I just don't remember what he claimed. :D Oh...wait...was it for proposing him as a master?

:yeehaa: :yeehaa: :yeehaa: :yeehaa: :yeehaa: :yeehaa: :yeehaa:

YES! Geraden insists that he must serve Master Eremis because he owes Eremis for proposing Geraden get the chausuble of a Master!

So Geraden states he must serve Master Eremis' needs for food and wine swiftly to repay the debt, though it is obviously vexing Eremis by interrupting his seduction of Terisa. One of the funnier moments in the story, I think.

Good job, Avatar! It's your question!

Damn it...you see? This is what happens. :D

Ok...hmmm...

When Teresa is captured / kidnapped by Eremis, how does he prevent Geraden from being able to find her by shifting a mirror image to her location, and translating her out?

I must say, Sanity, I really like your clever way of providing hints while not making it too easy. 8) ;)

...And on the strength of IrrationalSanity's well-worded hint, Avatar, my answer is that Eremis kept it dark wherever Terisa was so that Geraden couldn't find her and translate her away. There you have it!

New question: What reason did Eremis give to the Congery for translating the champion? Or, putting it another way, what benefit did Eremis argue that the Congery would gain by translating the champion?

If I remember correctly he argued that Congery could try to avoid future uses of imagery by translating someone with enough brute strength to win war in a decisive enough force

Thank you for taking a guess at this, Sam! However, that is not the answer. Eremis says nothing to the Congery about avoiding future uses of Imagery.

Wasn't it to prove they won't be shackled by King Joyce, his men and his stupid ethical rules?

No, not quite. That was more Gilbur's line of argument than Eremis'.
In the 13th chapter of The Mirror Of Her Dreams was wrote:But Master Gilbur didn't leave it alone.

"In addition," he rasped, "we must consider the possibility that Prince Kragen and the lords came to our meeting for an entirely different reason. We were created by Joyse. He set an example for Cadwal and Alend to follow. They think we are to be used as they see fit, and they maneuver against each other in order to possess us." His hands made fierce fists on the railing in front of him. "They want to own us as if we were things instead of men.

"We have no swords or soldiers." His voice lacked resonance, but it had the force to be terrifying. "We can never protect ourselves unless we show our power!"
What was Eremis' argument to the Congery for translating the champion?

Perhaps I've finally managed to ask a question that isn't too easy--we'll see!

A hint: Eremis says to the Congery that it's to prove something (three words).

No, although that's certainly three words. To give a better hint, here's the quote from Eremis' speech to the Congery before Gilbur translates the champion. I have marked out the three words.
To prove *** **** *****. We are not heeded because it is believed we have no commitment to anything except ourselves.... We have no way to convince anyone otherwise except by taking single and unselfish action in Mordant's defense. Only by opposing the evil ourselves can we show that we are worthy of trust and alliance.

Here is Eremis' answer, from Chapter 13 of The Mirror Of Her Dreams: "To prove our good faith. We are not heeded because it is beleived we have no commitment to anything except ourselves.... We have no way to convince anyone otherwise except by taking single and unselfish action in Mordant's defense. Only by opposing the evil ourselves can we show that we are worthy of trust and alliance."

I'll try to come up with another MN trivia question soon.
