Today I feel great compared to last week...
I was a hobble last week. (Not a hobbit a, hobble)
I was hobbling around the place with a migrating foot pain.
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

I received a jar of quotes/motivational/inspirational/humorous thoughts.

I felt today's thought was quite funny:

"Don't try to win over the haters. You're not a jackass whisperer..."

In fact I think it is so great I am adding as a signature to my profile :)

For those following my cancer recuperation journey...

After a long day (8:30 to 3:30) at the University of Washington Medical Center, my presurgical consultations and CAT scans are completed, and I am good to go for my DIEP FLAP reconstructive surgery on Monday.

Plan, as of now, is to report at 5:30 am on Monday, and to expect to be on the table from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. A couple of days stay in ICU, to be sure my flaps don't develop necrosis, followed by a couple of days stay in a standard hospital room.

Expected recuperation at home is then four to six weeks. A long haul, but it will be nice to have a superior body than the one I started with before the bilateral mastectomy in June.

Prayers and good thoughts for the surgeon's task, as well as my own healing, will be appreciated.

Prayers and good thoughts out to you Menolly.

Good luck, Menolly.

Someone else got tired of the X-mas music, and shut off the entire sound system. We're technically not allowed to touch the sound system (it's controlled by the mothership), but they're my new hero.

Ugh...you mean they were still playing Christmas music in January? I really find that offensive. I'm usually pretty offended by being subjected to Christmas music in the first place though. I think it was all those years of being subjected to it all working retail.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not entirely a Scrooge. It's the same with all music. I get tired of hearing the same songs all the time as it is. This is why I don't listen to the radio. While there is a certain amount of repetition with my CDs here and there, I do have a sizable amount, and check stuff out from the library and still buy new CDs when I must. I do admit listening to Xmas music is something that can get you in the mood for the holiday, but it really is the same 30+ songs on constant rotation, remade by this artist, etc. And most of the songs don't go very deep. That's why I'm thrilled whenever I find a song I've not heard before dug out from someone's catalog of songs that means a little something, and has some ties to the holiday. I love Fairytale of New York for that reason, which is widely seen as a Christmas song, even if it only barely references the holiday, and uses it more as a setting than a theme. Merry Christmas from the Family I found a cover from Jill Sobule first before I heard the original, but it's great. Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis from Tom Waits I never really thought of as a Christmas song until now, but is as much as Fairytale of New York, even if it never actually mentions Christmas, if I remember correctly.
Sorry, I am raving.

Rave away. This is the second year in a row that we've been forced to listen to Christmas music through mid-January. And it's the bad sort - including six different versions of Santa Baby, which is seven more than the world needs, at least according to my calculations.

Surgical team just came in to do an assessment. All is looking good, and I should be able to start clear fluids this morning. If that goes well, I'll be helped in to a chair, with the plan of eating food for dinner tonight.

Another night stay in ICU, and then hopefully moved to a normal room tomorrow, to begin moving around and true recovery.
