Ankle hurts like a bastard. Where it never
Set. But I want to put off surgery for at least
Another year. Doctor says my pain tolerance
Is too high and I am in danger of snapping the
Screws. That will just make for a longer and
Messier surgery later. I want to punch the doctor
Who originally botched the surgery. But oh well.

I thought I had tendonosis, thankfully it was only trigger finger.
Scheduled for steriod injections this morning but decided to forgo the needles as the fingers feel better than when I'd first made the doctor's appointment.

As the good weather is coming around again soon, and the doctor agreed, I'll give it more time and allow will power to see me through ...

I did some pretty extensive research the last time around, and was forced to conclude that nothing was breaking any actual laws.

Fortunately it isn't as bad this time around, as we no longer have the GM who forced us to conform 100% to dress code - which meant wearing a T-shirt when it was under 40 degrees in the place. We have people in parkas and hats right now, which he never would have allowed.

Just thinking about that man makes my blood pressure go up. He certainly never took his jacket off when he visited.

I feel middling. Power will be off at work in the next 45 mins, then 4.5 hours of doing mostly nothing, then it will come back on again. Meh.

Hadn't seen those before - pretty neat, but it looks like they only work for about an hour, then you have to boil them for 10-15 minutes and let them cool down again before they can be reused. Not really viable for my work environment. I ordered one that's battery operated (recharges by USB), and supposedly works for 5-10 hours on a full charge.

Looks like that link is for a pack of 20, so you could just keep a bunch on you, but a chargeable one seems more practical. :D

I feel pretty good, all things considered. :D

Glad I'm not breaking the chain of bitchery (a word lifted from the Faulkner book I recently suffered through). I'm home sick with a bad cold. I don't even remember the last time I had a cold, and it is no fun. Happy Valentines Day.

Menolly I had no idea you were sidelined like that. Seems like some of the worst is behind you. Take courage.

Need to go to bed.

Batty and MagickMarker are at Katsucon, the insanely large anime convention in DC that they've been attending since sometime in high school. They're both on staff now, and in fact Batty is 2nd in command of the Video Ops Department -- which is to say the guy who is department chair (let's call him DC) is great at schmoozing with the distributors to get rights for anime to show at the convention and lousy at everything else. So he lines up the videos and Batty does all the paperwork, the scheduling, team recruitment, and everything else. More than once this past week, she's emerged from her room muttering, "Fucking DC..."

Anyway, they're at the convention 'til midday Monday, so I have the house to myself for the whole weekend. Other than the cats, I mean -- they're still here.

As far as the muttering is concerned, I see no reason why all of you are not expressing similar sentiments, given where y'all live and work.

That's a great perspective, Sarge.

I have a serious case of malaria as it turns out.

Tomorrow is the presidential election. One of the top contenders is under criminal investigation in several countries. God help us. I actually hope Buhari stays in place....

Didn't stag of the dawn just go through that, and y'all had to return to the states for his recovery?

Malaria.. I don't know if it's still in effect but if you have suffered from
malaria, blood donations are off the table. That is because if your not fully cured of the disease, recurrences of the disease months, maybe years later
can happen. Nasty...

That sucks. I was going to bitch about having to work tomorrow and next weekend and the weekend after, but malaria is definitely worse.

Bitch away, don't let me stop you! It's always good to remember that others have their own sufferings, we're not the only ones. *sends up a prayer for Menolly*

Menolly, Stag's was drug resistant and he ended up with double pneumonia and meningitis. That was last summer we went to the States. I sure hope mine doesn't stick around.

Ur dead, I just learned today that there are five different types of malaria and two cause recurrent malaria and two don't and one is too newly diagnosed for them to know, I guess. But they don't have that kind of test here, or rather the people who gaze upon the blood samples and count the parasites aren't that well trained, perhaps.

Anyway I haven't been this sick since the first time I got malaria, in 2006. I feel weak and weary, which is depressing. I literally wanted to die this morning, usually I just feel extremely apathetic. Don't worry, I'll get through this. I'm too ornery to let it kill me.

On the upside, I am getting so much reading in! Right now I have this amazing book called Highlife Giants: West African Dance Band Pioneers by John Collins. As I read I can listen to songs on YouTube, where there is all this great old palmwine, asiko, and goombay music. I didn't know what all that was, either. I especially enjoyed the asiko clips. There is basically one dance move, and these people don't get tired of it and neither did I.

I also learned that there was waaaayyyy more cultural crossover between Africa and North and South America and the Caribbean than I had realized. As early as the 1830s, freed slaves returned to Africa from Brazil and brought guitars and cowbells with them. So cool!

So that's what's keeping my mind off of how boring it is to be sick and resting, and how bad my head hurts.

And by the way, the election was canceled because fires destroyed balloting materials in several locations, and of course both main political parties are pointing fingers, which will lead to more fires. Yay.

Oh Deer that ALL sounds awful.

Glad you are resting .. and that you have the internet.. YouTube to keep you swinging. Being ornery is a good .. if it keeps you pressing on despite feeling like death warmed slightly.

Just think when you do return to the States you can teach asiko dance 💃.. sounds like fun.

Take care and best of wishes for a speedy recovery.

How long does recovery usually take?

Anyway sending buckets of health and healing your way ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
