Okay, I just read some of the scrollback to hear updates... aaaah! some exciting stuff!
balon! What line of work are you in?
Happy to hear there was good training.
That's a sign of forward-looking investment!
Also, RE: Brazil, that is one of my sister's favorite movies.
Like your fiance, I am someone who doesn't have much movie-watching experience.
But I married a guy who wasn't very motivated to watch movies either.
So over the years, together, we've watched like... "Inception" and LoTR movies... "High Noon." a few others!
Menolly- I'm seconding (or thirding) peoples' congrats to you!
Skyweir- Hihihihihi!!
StevieG- Ahh! I have -often- battled burnout.
A few years ago, I noted that when I was teaching a gifted kids, (in classes - one-on-one tutoring is easier.) I seemed to be dodging burnout every few weeks or months!
You run a small business... I suspect this whole burnout-risk thing is one of the Trials of Leadership (tm).
deer- been thinking of you guys, of course.
If any books are referenced by the presenters at your Prague conference, you will create a thread mentioning them when you get back?!?!?
As for me over here, oh my... well, we just finished taxes, and so lots of the stress of last week is behind me. Hopefully.

Home from surgery. This was basically clean up of the reconstruction. I had back fat left behind from the mastectomy and fat and tissue grafts which has hardened due to rejection removed, and areas filled in around the breasts via liposuctuon from my inner thighs. I'm in a lot more pain than I expected, as I thought I would be able to work tomorrow. But, I can barely lift either leg, due to the pain. When I attempt to walk, I'm basically dragging my left leg.
Hopefully that will improve tomorrow...
Thanks for the prayers and healing thoughts!

A courageous conversation coming your way
Hope it goes well
Menolly hope your recovery goes well ... I may have offended your friend by saying everyone should have a little weed in their day
Sounds nasty all that scraping and sucking, its bound to take its toll. Speedy healing

Not a separate thread, but I will mention:linna wrote:If any books are referenced by the presenters at your Prague conference, you will create a thread mentioning them when you get back?!?!? Wink
Smith, J. K. Desiring the Kingdom: Worship, Worldview and Cultural Formation; which I haven't read but looked really valuable as it kept getting referenced.
Free Us From Bullying, Real Solutions Beyond Being Nice, by Paul T. Coughlin, which I actually bought.
I also got a free book about leaving a legacy, but I won't gush about that till I figure out if it's worthwhile.
Another blessing from Prague was on our last day I went out and found a walking trail (they seem to be all over) and got to enjoy a cool Spring day with flowers blooming and birds singing... we don't usually get to experience spring in temperate climes, so it was especially enjoyable.
Stag has malaria, and I have a migraine, so we're just hanging out and puttering... thankful it's a long weekend!!
Menolly, take it easy, enjoy the long weekend, and let's all be thankful for Spring!

Lovely sunny day and heck, I feel good.
Was out on the town with workmates last night. The only thing that'll induce me to drink beer. Managed to get home soberish.
Opened my Easter present. A Behringer Xenyx Q mixer. Couldn't be happier it sits perfectly on top the mini guitar amp.
Made a quick recording - all is well in the studio.

Its a Christian thing, like Christmas. Its the time when the Magi set out on their journey to see the Lord and the giving of gifts.Skyweir wrote:Easter presents eh?
Actually, Gold Frankincense and Myrrh, were the names of their camels and to what each one was carrying, (see the gospel of Matthew).
There were many wise men, and women, in the caravan from the east.

We did get little gifties on Easter from our grandparents when we were kids, but it's not something we did with our children. We just made them each baskets with candy dyed eggs and doodads... Since our kids are grown, Easter consists of eating a few jelly beans, a special bread made with cardamom and almonds to snack on all day, and Church. I was leading the songs this morning and playing my guitar, which is my happy place.
Feeling better from malaria although still a complete lack of motivation or energy. It's also really hot. Down to the final few weeks of school, which is kind of unbelievable!
Fawn of the dawn is at Coachella. She said Kanye West was going to lead a Sunday Service, but I hope to God she was kidding.
EDIT: Sadly, she wasn't.
Happy Passover, Happy Easter, Happy Spring!!!!

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor
"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

This week looks to be a slow week .. which I am looking forward to .. so I can get some work done around the house and property.
I painted timber yesterday that I will use in the construction of window boxes, I have polyanthas however thats spelled .. to go in the shady side of the house .. and pansies on the sunny side.
Gosh there are soooo many projects to get on with but this is a nice one to begin with
