Also, the ambiguity: "A Joyous Holiday"!
What do Messianic people do, then? (we had one of those folks on this forum awhile back!)
Are they going to line up and be like, "Excuse me, I want my pluralization! Holi-dayzzzz."

Anyway, just a few short hours ago... when I was telling the story of - what else - Jesus' death and resurrection, I deviously told the children, "I hope that your parents won't be too upset with me if I mention a meme*... And then described one of last year's April-Fools-Day-Easter" memes**.

Is there anyone here who would like me to construct a fictitious John Bunyan quote in which he analyzes/responds to this meme?
Oh, and if anyone does not know who John Bunyan is, well don't look here for any help. Actually, look anywhere but this link for more accurate information.

Anyway, I know all this^ is pretty zany, but I'm coming off an Easter that went very wonderfully over here; I woke tired and not feeling so great, and today I saw many things A. go far better than they could have been expected to, and
B. lots of OTHER good things that were unexpected and un-looked-for happened.

* Note: Person who does not post memes, but has discussions in which she DESCRIBES memes that other people post. Out loud. Repeatedly.

** The one where Satan says, "Haha! Jesus is dead!" and the next frame is Jesus saying "April Fools!"

As we are all not Christians its not inappropriate to rejoice more broadly

Happy holiday one and all .. no matter what your reason for the season

For us its a time for family doings ... we had our baby girl with us and it was fantastic.

Not really an important holiday for us, except for one of us.
We were going to get dressed up and go out for brunch but even looking a week out everything that looked fancy was all booked.
Probably a good thing since it looks like it's typically $40 to $50 a person.
$40 for eggs and bacon and french toast?????
Maybe if it was on a boat or something....

The second panel of the meme Menolly posted is referring to the Passover. (Get it? unleavened bread! it doesn't rise.)
Also, I don't know how international the Pillsbury Doughboy is... but it's a very universal-in-American-ads thing.

Yes, I would feel awkward going out when it's that expensive....

The Messianics I know personally celebrate both, although since, like most Chr-stians, they believe the rules of kashrut no longer apply since the covenant and sacrifice via JC.

I attended a Messianic seder once. It was a lovely affair, but it did make me very uncomfortable. The haggadah twisted the Passover story to show how JC fulfilled all sorts of prophecies supposedly predicted in it. For Jews, this is not the purpose of Pesach at all.

But, it is their minhag/tradition. So I will respect their practice. I just don't think I would attend one again.

Menolly-
thanks so much for sharing your honest thoughts... and even saying you saw beauty there.

of course, since I'm a believer, I think of Messianic Jews in this distant "they're like me!" way.

If I were in your shoes, I can imagine it would be really alienating...

...I don't think anyone gets through this ole world without getting super-alienated from others about something that has to do with religion!
So at least in this respect, we are all alike! (?!?!? reassuring?
