Since this is the year for me, celebrating will last all year.

Well, in that case, Happy Birthday!!

"Beddian Birthday" - new vocab word for me!

I think this means I am called upon to make some inferences and do a math problem. Hmm.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

Probably not quite the spin Menolly may have intended, but the [Ding Ding Ding] right answer for those of a inquiring and numerate disposition.
Well played!

Her revised avatar makes it clearer what this is about; the year in which your attained age equals the two-digit year of your birth. Mine was in 2014.

57 then, if I'm getting this right? I guessed 60 for Menolly but then changing the avatar confirmed it.

So mine will be 2042 (if I have worked it out correctly) - that's way too far away!

I was born in 1964. So I take the last two digits [64] and add those digits [64] to 1964 to discover my Beddian birthday.

In which case mine will be in 2028

1964 [take last two digits >>64]
+64
2028

hope that helps HLT :)

Happy B-B day, Menolly. Spend the year lying under a shady palm next to clear blue waters, drinking rum and reading good stories.

meh.

Other than the drinking rum part, which doesn't happen anymore due to my bleeding duadenal ulcer I had last year after surgery, lounging and reading on the beach was done in my middle school and high school years growing up in Hollywood, FL.

For me, doing such is over rated. But thanks for the thought!

I'd happily do it in your place :D

As far as I know, I don't have a duodenal, gastric, peptic, esophageal or any other type of ulcer (yes, I just googled "types of ulcers"...) so I'll give it a crack. Wayfriend, are you happy to pay for my plane ticket? I'll buy the rum...

I'm sure he will, but you have to wait until it's YOUR Beddian birthday, StevieG.

Looks like I'll have to start saving for a plane ticket if you give me a plain ticket... but I'll accept it if that's what you can offer :D

For my Beddian birthday, SD is treating me to a week on the Central California coast. Today was spent driving along California Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway, between San Simeon and Marina. Just north of San Simeon and Hearst Castle is the Point Piedras Blancas Rookery for elephant seals along six miles of beach coves just south of the Piedras Blancas light station.

Out to sea there are rock formations. There was one in particular which makes me think of a stone cottage shaped by the Unhomed.

I don't really get "cottage" from it, but nice rocks. :D
