Damn, rough one...

Sat took all 3 cats for their shots.

Sat night, one of them didn't come home. Found her on Sunday afternoon on a nearby carport roof with her leg all mangled, so she's facing surgery now and all the wonderful costs that will entail, if she hopes to keep her leg. Poor little thing.

So, been a bit stressed about it.

Avatar, if taking the leg is the best option I want you to know that I know and have known several cats that have lost legs and have not even blinked an eye about their ability to function. Danlo's cat was a rescue and was declawed on his front paws before they adopted him and he's a bad ass indoor/outdoor cat who doesn't need claws. Cats are amazingly adaptable.

On a Jenn note, I realized I actually am a total parent. Rigel wanted to give the guinea pigs treats and I got all protective and said," They can have celery leaves or their dandylion/rosehip treats but they have already had way too much sugar today between the mango, apples and canteloupe." I totally went all MOM. Happy Mother's Day to me....
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Yeah, I know they can handle it, but it's the last resort as far as I'm concerned.

Poor baby. :(

Obviously hoping for the best - cats are resilient critters. A 3-legged cat can live a totally normal life though. I see a few every year in the shelter, and they run and climb and it doesn't even slow them down.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

I feel ya, Av.

Intellectually, we all know cats are highly adaptable. But when it's our baby...

Thanks guys. :)

Chatted to the surgeon yesterday, and he's pretty confident that it won't be necessary.

If they think the soft tissue wounds are clean enough, they may do the surgery today to stabilise the joint where the ligaments have been torn, and close some of the wounds. He seems to think it should be ok.

(Interestingly, same guy who treated my Ginger 5 years ago when he got his elbow dislocated and they were worried about nerve damage, but he made a full recovery, so here's hoping this will go as well.)

Pretty sure I tore my rotator cuff. I have a teleconference with the doctor tomorrow to get a referral. Based on how it feels, I'm betting surgery is in my future.

Damn, that's a nasty one. I strained mine a couple of times back when we were climbing, but short of actual tearing, so managed to get away with rest, anti-inflammatories etc. Good luck with that.

On my front, seems the cat surgery went well. He managed to repair the ligament and more of the soft tissue wounds than he thought he'd be able to, and installed a couple of pins and a halo-type frame to stabilise the joint while it heals. At least 2-3 days before she can come home, and then it will be follow-ups every few days for cleaning etc.

All good. Now all I have to worry about is the bill, not that it matters. :)

Great to hear 👌 certainly a load off when things go well.

My Gracie got a grass seed ... we think buried into her skin. She seemed to be favouring one foot and limping. I checked under her paw as she gets matted there. I removed one matt and the next morning woke to her having de haired that one paw ... and the skin underneath was red and swollen ... so off to the vet.

Surgery .. which found nothing, antibiotics and pain relief and daily paw soaks and still not looking great.

It's worse when you can't figure out what the problem is. :( Good luck with that.

I finally got my fixed fibre line installed, so I'm off the useless LTE. How nice to have fast internet for a change. :D

Had to do a big online shopping order this week. I usually only do this once every few months, when I need bulky things like toilet paper and cereal. Received my order last night and didn't pay close enough attention I guess because I completely missed that my cereal wasn't delivered. I didn't notice this until I went to have breakfast this morning and there was nothing there.

On the plus side: I called Tesco and they immediately and without question refunded the cost. On the minus: this means I now have to go out and buy some at the shops, making an extra trip outside when I could have waited another full week before I went out. I'll also probably have to make more trips in future weeks, too, because I can't carry more than one or two boxes at a time (the whole reason I order online). Also, I had to have toast for breakfast, and the bread I have right now - because my usual stuff was sold out - makes really terrible toast.

Av - glad to hear it went well.

Saved an abandoned puppy this week.
But her two siblings would not come near
Me. She is up for adoption Friday. She smelled
Of a dead animal when I grabbed her. I'm afraid
Her mother died and she was still staying near
Her. She was thin, but not emaciated. She cried
For her siblings. But she will survive. The vultures
Were near her when I got her. A lot of vultures.
Whoever abandoned the dogs is an asshole.
