I am pissed. I find out on FB that my unit closing come January. On effing FB. So I have no idea how we will be dispersed to other units. If my being out to mid November will hurt my odds of going to a better unit. Son of a bitch. 20 effing years in the system and I find out out Facebook.

That's really lousy.

The company I work for just did a big layoff, mostly at the top (see why I won't let them promote me?) - I'm not directly affected (yet), but I think the worst is yet to come.

Knowledge is good, but there isn't much I can do with it right now. Most places I would consider going to as a lateral move are in a hiring freeze, or in worse shape than my current position.

What a mess.

Sorry Sorus. I know how you feel.

It was rank who told us. A great guy. I'm going to see if it's worth retiring now.

Thanks for the well wishes. What I’d really like to know is if people here are ok. That was my main motive in returning. There were some people here I really like and I know the demographics here are a bit more in the at risk category age-wise 😂 Are people ok?

I am really upset about this possible forced move at work.

A friend in the field force says the Trusty Camp will stay open because of the fields, hogs andvhen house. If so I am assuming
The kitchen stays open and I sm senior in the kitchen. So I don't
Know what that means for me. The camp can hold at maximum
Capacity 321 inmates. I'm csllingbthe temporary kitchen captain
In the morning. If she had no answers I will call HR and then the
Assistant warden. My first choice would be stay at the unit. Second
Would be my llf unit. The the two other units near my old unit.

Any prayers & well wishes are desperately needed. I only have four
More years til retirement. I want to continue on an easy unit.

Prayers sent upwards to the Boss and well wishes in barrow loads shipped through the ether toward you and yours as requested Sarge. Have no fear - all will be well, all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well. Do what you can and if there is nothing you can do, do nothing. All will be well.

Absolutely Sarge! Here's hoping you can navigate through it and have some form of resolution before Christmas. :cross:

I get my release from the doctor on the 11th. Then I have to meet with the higher ups on that day at work.

Well wishes duly wished Sarge.

Me, I'm fine. Bit annoyed about it being Monday, but times inexorable march leaves us no choice.

Meh.

They're certainly preparing for Armageddon here. They were boarding up all the windows of my workplace when I left today. I was worried that they wouldn't - most places in the area started to do so last week, and the company is notoriously cheap about such things. (Though they have had to replace a fair number of windows this year. I'm just tired of sweeping up broken glass.)

I hope it's not needed. But this year has already been a dumpster fire, and there are people mad enough to throw gasoline on it.

If society does collapse into a Mad Max dystopia, I hope leftover Halloween candy is an acceptable currency.

I would accept leftover candy as currency, if it's the good stuff, but I'm in Illinois. If we do go Mad Max, I call dibs on Charlize Theron.
