Up early, as I have my first substitute gig in a school since March. I'm skeptical that the gig is actually scheduled; I signed up for it on the official site, but I usually receive a reminder email the week of, and that hasn't happened.

I'm showing up at the building at the scheduled time ready to work (mask on!) anyway. We'll see what happens.

3 days of work went well. Fourth day engine on the truck seized up had to call in. It will cost a little over a grand to fix the engine. Its still in the shop. We have a loaner car for now.

Head doctor tomorrow. I've had this headache for a week now.

Holiday planning keeping everyone busy? This is as quiet a weekend as I've seen here on the Watch in awhile.

Well they are shipping all but two of the 40 inmates to their new units in the morning. The last two are leaving for home this week. I fed theast meal in the building last night. A day or two of cleaning up the kitchen then I start at the Trusty Camp for what has been promised to be at least a year.

Hope it goes well Sarge.

All fine my side, just lazy and bored and tired of everything. :)

Leave starts next week, not even excited for that now...

I'm putting in for a job at the prison cannery. Too much chaos at the job. I know 3 people who work there.

Headache for 3 weeks.

Still quiet huh?

Well, technically I'm on leave now. Technically.

In practice however, still waiting for developers to sort some stuff out, so remaining available for now...meh... :D

I'm feeling exhausted. I'd like to stop being an essential person for a week or so. My department is down to three people, including myself. My boss is physically incapable of doing my job. The other guy has limited availability because he has kids. I'm tired.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing

Haven't seen you around much Sorus, it's nice to 'see' you :D

I guess I'm feeling a bit upset, and a bit numb. A work colleague died suddenly and unexpectedly over the weekend at age 46, leaving behind 3 teenagers. Just in time for Christmas. She has a husband who is not well - how fucked up is that? Meanwhile, we're ploughing on, trying to get a whole bunch of stuff done when it's the last thing we feel like.

  oh hugs to you StevieG that’s awful right before the holidays ... which will live on as a sad time in his loved ones lives ♥️♥️♥️

You should organise a big piss up wake for your colleague ... to ease their passage from your lives to Valhalla in hearty memory ✊

I never fully appreciated the therapeutic value of the Irish wake till I lost my best friend to a hit and run ... a sudden and unexpected event. He was Irish ☘️ and his family held his funeral at the local Irish church and a wake in their home. To my horror the guy who hit their son with his vehicle, then fled the scene was there - invited by the family. The ethos was truly quite amazing. I felt little but loathing for the person responsible (drunk) for depriving me of my best mate in all the world. But hearts were softened, lightened and heartily boosted by the sharing of memories, funny shit we all did together and it was truly healing.

The family embraced their sons killer - the most compassionate expression to me then imaginable. But he had a terrible burden to bear - that guilt imposes on a soul.

We laughed, danced and celebrated our lost friend, brother, son, nephew and grandson.

Hard news for the family there StevieG. Always seems somehow worse when it happens at "memorable" times of year.

Oh, it's about the only funeral tradition my family observes. We don't have funeral services or burials or any of that...just a party.

Well, hope everybody is as well as can be expected. Pretty much feels like just another day really though. At least it's not blazing hot.

It is indeed nice to see Sorus posting once more! 8)

I'm sorry for your loss, StevieG, especially considering it's a family already in trouble. Wishing peace, comfort, strength, and good fortune for them from here on out!
