Not necessary, I said all I had to say in the Cail thread a number of months ago. I was surprised that the last few messages ended up being about my sig. Keep in mind that I was not the one who started this conversation. Anyone who wishes to know what my sig is about can do a history search for the locked Cail thread.

Carry on.

As you wish :D

Well, I made it through my soccer game yesterday. I only played one half, and held myself back for self preservation. But no reoccurrence of injuries which is a relief.

Well done you!

I pruned our front fruit trees 🌳 probably only an hour or a bit more and I’m all a tremble from the activity! lol 😂 so 100% respect for chasing a soccer ⚽️ ball up and down a 300m field!

Well, been a rough couple of weeks. Both the GF and I were struck down by the dreaded lurgy, though luckily with only relatively mild symptoms. Hers worse than mine, but no joke in either case. Thankfully both on the road to recovery now, but still feeling pretty worn down and fragile.

Also of course as SB noted, some fraught times in SA as well recently, although "politically" initiated, largely driven by the massive inequalities and attendant desperation of far too many people already living on the ragged edge.

Also largely subsided now bar the finger-pointing etc. I'm glad to say, (and was not personally affected), but of course the underlying issues remain sadly extant.

Other than that all good, am taking it easy for the moment and hope y'all remain well.

Wow glad you are both on the road to recovery - it is the time of the year for lurgies - though here there has been less - the pay-off of social distancing and improved personal hygiene and hygiene practices. lol 😂

Yeah well, this has been THE lurgy. :) Sadly precautions appear to be no guarantee I'm afraid. I've tried to be VERY careful, but nonetheless, struck down.

Luckily, relatively mild symptoms. Relative of course being the word.

Did you and Melody get fully vaccinated first, Av? Or were you still waiting for your turn to do so? The vaccine is supposed to help mitigate symptoms if a version breaks through.

I keep having discussions with friends who are scheduling indoor activities with others who are fully vaccinated. They're all like, " It's 97% or 98% effective!" I respond with, "We're all role players here. We know how often that 2% chance of rolling badly occurs."

LOL, this is Africa Menolly. :D We have only 10% of our population vaccinated right now, and we've one of the higher vaccination rates on the continent.

We became eligible to register for the vaccine just about the exact time we both started getting sick. :)

Once registered, you wait for them to send you your appointment and site details.

Will definitely be registering (would have been anyway) but waiting until we're both completely over symptoms etc.

That's the way vaccines work, nu? My understanding is if given while the infection is active, it doesn't work properly.

And yet you are still doing better than us down under 🤦‍♀️

I just looked it up and ww and sitting on about 20% of the population has received vaccination but I’d guess the fully vaccinated tally is likely less than that. I thought it was something like 13% of the pop. Appalling really. Totally shoddy all over the shop roll out.

LOL, yeah, I see Aus is freaking out at the moment. :D Of course, we had 17k new cases yesterday, so you still seem pretty well off to me.

Oh, I dunno. I do know if you get the vaccine after having been infected, you get like 100x more antibodies, so that sounds good. :)

I'm largely over it now myself luckily, the GF's effects seem to be lingering a bit though.

Still, could have been worse whichever way you look at it. :D

Yeah we are not facing the kind of issues as many other nations for sure

I think we’ve had less than 1k deaths in total.

71k here, and it's believed that that number is significantly under-reported.

Still, at least it's Friday. :)

My daughter called me a couple of days ago about 7PM... middle of the week...not a normal time so we knew something was up.

After a few niceties she got down the brass tacks. She and her husband had their lease go up about 30% if they wanted to renew. They couldnt afford it and chose to look instead. After declining and looking, they tried to go back and sign the lease but it was already sold to someone else.

All that being said, my Son in law will be in Chiropractic school for at least 8 more months.... so he has to stay near school. No question.

So now my daughter, my Granddaughter Chloe, and my new Grandson on the way (will be less than a week old when they come up), will be coming to Ohio from Georgia to live with us for about 8 months while my SIL finishes school.

We are both very excited to have them here even under less than ideal conditions.

No question that having your daughter and the grandchildren closer is a plus.

Does SIL have the acumen and resources to live solo while finishing his professional certification? Does he have a runway to launch into practice once he can? Where will that practice be?

Apart from all that, are daughter and he tight enough to weather the extended time apart?

Casting no aspersions, just reflecting (OK, possibly projecting) challenges in my own rear-view mirror. Obviously, I navigated that passage pretty well...but my path isn't for everyone.

Yes we are a bit worried about Chris (SIL), but he thinks he can Couch surf + his mom lives fairly close. We have also offered to help him find a airbnb or something..

Yes it will be hard regardless but we will fly him up here for Thanksgiving and Christmas and we all come down when he graduates.
