While getting ready for work today, a package addressed to me was dropped off on the front porch from Torrid. It was from their #torridstrong campaign, which supports breast cancer research through sales of specific items. October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it arrived in a timely manner.
I'm uncertain how Torrid found out that I'm a breast cancer thriver. I'm thinking I may have mentioned it in one of the reviews I wrote on their website for a previous Torrid Strong item.
It goes nicely with my choice of dress today.

Another day, another day. :D

Back to rolling power cuts this week, (allegedly only until tomorrow), so lost a couple hours out of my work day yesterday and the day before. Sadly not today though. (I have been using them to take a little nap. :D )

The day-time ones are fine, but the ones at night are annoying, particularly the 18h00 - 20h30 or 20h00-22h30 slots.

Oh well, ce la vie.

Any particular reason behind them Av, or just the general energy shortages that seem to be afflicting the world in general these days? (There is talk in the UK of industry having to go on three day working weeks, but this might be due more to labour shortages rather than actual power supply issues - not sure to be honest.)

Nah, this is mostly down the power infrastructure that hasn't been maintained properly due to years of corruption and mismanagement, following on from the days when government only cared about providing electricity to a tiny fraction of the population.

Once unplanned breakdowns remove a certain amount of generation capacity from the grid, they rotate "dead spots" while they make repairs etc.

It's been going on for years, and will continue probably for years more while they try to get everything up to spec.

All back to normal for now, until the next breakdowns force them to do it again.

My long awaited P.INK Day was today. When I approved the design, I forgot it was a stencil, so the treble clef came out backwards. A lifelong mistake, but it shows I'm human...

LOL, no, I meant one the right way round, to the (your) right of it. So you have the note and its mirror image next to each other.

Oh...
So have two treble clefs in the middle of the heart, facing each other? Interesting idea. My artist offered to "cover it" once I'm healed, but I told him I still wanted the center to be a treble clef, and I don't know if he has one in mind to cover it. Since the treble clef is slightly off center, due to the shape of my body, the mirror image might work.

I'll run it by him when I speak to him again.
Thanks!

No worries. It was it being a bit off-centre that made me think of it.

And...at least it's Friday. :)

Awesome, sarge!

I got my booster back in August, I believe. We tried to get SD and Dam-sel done at the same time as my caregivers, but although I was told verbally by both my care team at one of my cancer clinics and by the folks spinsoring the booster shots that they were eligible, when we showed up those administering the boosters would only do me.

I think we're still waiting for SD and Dam-sel to get scheduled for it.

I feel tired today!
South of Boston and the Cape and Islands got hammered by a storm on Monday night.
Weather stations are calling it a bombogenesis.
That's right.
Mother nature bombed south eastern Massachusetts.
It actually really sucks.
For me, a pine tree snapped in half and landed on my house.
Punched a hole in my bedroom wall and missed my head by about half-a-foot.
8O
I feel like I hit the lottery though because a tree company that I had used earlier this year was working on a neighbor's house, who also had a tree go into their bedroom, and the were nice enough to take care of me after them.

Trees are like shattered all over the place.
Power could be down for several days.
Luckily I got a small generator a few years ago and I finally get to use it.
It's enough to keep the refrigerator, a small heater and a few lights on.
Gas stations are running out of gas so I have to drive around to fill up my two 5 gallon gas cans.

Spent the day with the chainsaw and the rake.
I'm almost too old for this.
And I'm starting to smell.

Wow, HLT! You've been through the mill my friend. You seem however, to have come through it in remarkably high spirits and having coped with it way better than I could have in my best dreams! Generators and chopping wood and stuff. Wow. I'm in awe of your resilience and capabilities. I'd have been in some grubby temporary accommodation under sedation!

It's funny you mention high spirits.
5 hours after the power came back on we lost it again.
Apparently a tree down the street was on a slow fall and hit the power line in the middle of the night.
Boom! went the transformer.
SO I had to break out all the extension cords and generator again.
This time it was only 12 houses and not 3/4 of the town so I was expecting to be on the end of the priority list but luckily a neighbor was able to get a tree removal company to swing by and then the power company showed up.

By the end of the day the power was back on and a carpenter patched my roof.
I was extremely lucky to have everything fixed so fast.
But now I'm in constant fear of losing power again!
Like a low low level PTSD or something.
Now I have to deal with the insurance company.
I know, 1st world problem.
