So usually when I've been vaccinated, my reaction to each of them has been fairly mild. My understanding is that is typical for an immunocompromised individual. However, the more intense the reaction, apparently the more the immune system is kicking in in response to it.
Last night I had very intense chills in the middle of the night, and I'm now running a fever of 101°F.
Good thing I timed this so I have no substitute gigs pending this week.

9 February I turn 60!!

14 February is, of course, Valentine's Day.

And 22 February is Two's Day (Tuesday 22/2/22, or 2/22/22 for Americans).

That was going to be my wife and I's retirement date. We chose it about 5 years ago. But we have decided to go one more year of working. But that is it, come what may, this is the last year.

Many would say that we should pad our retirement for the next five years before considering retirement and retire at 65. Financially that makes sense. However what good is that money after we are dead? So after seeing so many friends and family over the years not make it to retirement or put it off and then pass away, it was a bit of a reality check of.... lets put it all in a spreadsheet and see if we can go ahead and enjoy our retirement while we are still young enough to enjoy our retirement. That looked good so we did some research and found a financial advisor that we trusted who showed us that we were on track and we had enough to retire..... there was one catch. My wife wants the house paid off before we retire. So we are spending this year paying off the house so we can retire 100% debt free.

The other thing was my wife went to her eye doctor this previous year for what looked like a retinal detachment. That wasnt it, but she has these giant floaters in her left eye caused by something in her vitreous fluid. All that being said, her last appt a few weeks ago they said "You will probably start seeing these in your other eye in the next couple of years".

I looked at her and said, "this is our last year working, I dont care if the house is paid for or not" and she agreed. We have many things we would like to do and see, and if she is going to eventually have vision issues, now is the time.

In years past, I was financially... Well, "stupid" is an understatement of gargantuan proportion. Don't know how I'll ever be able to retire. Certainly not before I'm 70, if then.

Gotta remember the good times I had spending like an idiot!

Not that I was stupid, but I am a terrible procrastinator and I only started preparing for it far too late.

I compensated somewhat by kickstarting my RA with a largeish chunk of what I'd saved up until that point, and every year I dump an additional lump sum (equivalent to 5 or 6 months of contributions) in as well, (partly for tax reasons) so hopefully that will make up for it in the end.

I received an interesting phone call from a scheduler at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance today.

Apparently eligible patients have been entered in to a lottery to receive the Evushield antibody therapy treatment, and my name was drawn. She was calling to schedule an appointment. Problem is, until then I had never heard of the program, and told them so. I didn't turn down an appointment, but I didn't book one, either. I asked them to talk with my two care teams, and have someone talk with me about the treatment.

After we disconnected, I then did some research and learned that this is a treatment offered under an FDA EUA, that there is limited amounts, and as I stated above, appointments are only offered via a lottery.

So...
Did I throw away my chance at getting this treatment by asking them to have someone explain it to me? Is it a treatment I should pursue? Or at this point should I "sour grapes" it and say it is so experimental I'm better off missing out anyway?

Heard back from both my care team and scheduler. Antibodies injections scheduled for Thursday. Supposedly no reaction is expected, but they do want me to stick around for an hour after. I wasn't told I needed to be driven by anyone else, though.
