Watch Update
Literally.
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that, despite his lack of visible presence, Vain has been hard at work behind the scenes, planning for and testing an update to the forum, to bring it back in line with (more) modern technological frameworks.
As a result, at some time in the not too distant future, (probably not too long after Christmas) the Watch will temporarily go down, so he can make an up-to-date duplication of the database, and deploy an updated version of the forum software etc.
I'll confirm the dates a bit closer to the time, but if you do happen to turn up one day and the forum is down, that'll probably be why.
The Discord server will still be active, so that'll be the best place to get an update if you want one.
(First create an account on www.discord.com, then once you have logged into that account, click on this link to join the Kevin's Watch Discord.)
There'll probably have to be some organising and tweaking of the new forum software once it's up and running, and there will be some differences, especially at first, so it might feel a bit weird, but we'll do our best to get it into as familiar a state as possible, as soon as possible.
(All posts, post counts, PM's etc. will be preserved, however things like the WGD and the shop items probably will not be, at least at first. We'll see what we are able to re-instate once everything is up and running again.)
So, keep an eye on this thread for more news when I have it, but if you miss the dates or whatever don't panic if the forum is suddenly down for a day or two.

Can't open the link to Discord above. If I search 'Kevin's Watch Discord' on Google it takes me to a place where I'm invited to join the KW Discord chat group, but when I press to accept the invite I get redirected to a general Google discord app that it invites me to upload.
Should I upload this app (I know zilch about apps and stuff so don't just want to go randomly uploading stuff that I have no idea what it is)?
If I don't go down the Discord route can I just wait it out and access the new KW updated forum in the same way I access the forum as it stands now (ie, by just searching Kevin's Watch and then signing in) or am I suddenly going to find myself 'unmembered' or something?
I don't navigate change very well at the best of times and in respect of computers even more so than ever!

I look forward to the updated forum and hope that my fragile brain will be able to cope with it better than my attempt at using Discord! I've given up downloading updates on several programs that I use as they get more and more complicated and always come before I've got my head round the previous version.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

I don't care what the new KW site will look like.
Nothing will ever be better than the Terry Brooks Hack Team site change prank on April Fools Day.

I love April Fools. Haven't done a good joke in a while. I think my joy of the holiday has been dampered by all of the tech sites out there over-doing it each year with lame jokes. But it was always fun to mess around on the Watch for April Fools.
I don't think everyone remembered my more elaborate one where I wrote my own preview chapter for one of the Last Chronicles. I think it was for the 2nd book in that series, whatever that was called.
