OK ! the problem is a LOT smaller than it was. We were looking at reverting back to 27 April but we have now managed to restore the database as of 7 August - which I think is a whole lot better
Members who registered after 7 August will need to register again - and any private messages, album postings, shop stuff, profile changes etc etc will have ben lost.
Apologies for the inconvenience this might cause but it's a dang sight better than losing 30 000 odds posts (even if 29 000 were of Darth doing )

Thanks for doing such a great job preserving what you could, Vain. I know a little about lost database data. Sometimes there is little that you can do to save it up to a certain point. Well done.

FYI - thanks to Work Offline and Cut & Paste, I have reposted a large chunk (two pages) of my Dying Atheist thread. I am considering doing the same for any other topics deemed important enough, that I can find. If you know of a topic you'd like to restore, PM me and I'll try to find some of it (note - I probably won't have things from Sports forum, TC discussion, Gap, Mordants Need, Other Works, The Library, Hall of Gifts, Galley and the Think-Tank).

Lost a couple of months worth on another forum, and it neary killed it. We rebounded though, and made it better than ever. Just goes to show how ephemeral all these things really are.
We have to take the bad (i.e. the chance of losing it) with the good (i.e. being able to be here at all).
