Lucas To Make 'Star Wars' Sequels?

Post by aTOMiC »

An interesting tidbit from IMDb news.

[Star Wars creator George Lucas could be poised to make three sequels to the original space opera trilogy, according to insiders at Lucasfilm. According to fan site Theforce.Net, employees at Lucas's company Industrial Light And Magic (ILM) have all been made to sign non-disclosure agreements to promise not to talk about the possibility of episode's seven, eight and nine being made. Now industry insiders are predicting the American Graffiti director will make the follow-ups, which pick up where 1983's Return Of The Jedi left off, despite insisting he would never be lured into filming them. A posting on the site says, "You didn't hear this from me, but you might be curious as to why everyone at ILM just signed NDA's saying that they will not discuss Star Wars episodes 7, 8, or 9. Since they're not being made, why the NDA's? Of course, since when has Lucas been consistent?" ]

Is it possible that GL won't have had quite enough of Star Wars after the conclusion of his work on Revenge? I just don't know what to believe anymore. 'bashes head against desktop in frustration'. :D

No its not. I would love for GL to just come out and say "Hey guys. If you are sad because this is the last film? Well dry your eyes because we aint done just yet! Watch as Luke turns into a superbeing and envelops the galaxy in a way the Emperor never dreamt!"

As long as I don't have to carry these 3 movies too, I guess it's a good idea.

I'd be excited if GL would turn the franchise over to someone else to have hands-on control. Otherwise....

What the franchise needs is one of those zany movies where all the original cast members somehow wind up on planet earth--either that or Vader sends a Dark Jedi to kill Luke's mother before Luke is born, and Yoda sends Chewbacca to stop it. Either that or Vulcan Vs. Jedi.

I couldn't agree more. I really hope Lucas reads this post, Foul. Man that would be so awsome! Any of those ideas would really re energize interest in the Star Wars universe. Gee I hope they make the next three films completely CGI so Hamill, Fisher and Ford can reprise their roles. Chewie Lives!!!!!

I know I've said this somewhere else, but personally I'd love to see sequels. Afterall, the main characters are still alive, so we could have a realistic time perspective, i.e. they're all older.

I do wonder if he'll follow the event sequence of the novels set after RotJ, with Han and Leia having twins, Luke becoming a Jedi Master, etc.

I hope he does, otherwise the whole Universe created in the novels will be negated.

I want to see a 6-hour long film about the Ewoks learning Hegelian Philosophy.
