Hate

Post by Revan »

heh, yet another topic. :P

This one is slightly different than my love one. ;)

Hatred... a nasty emotion... none would deny... also a very powerful one...

How do you feel about hatred? Have you ever truly hated something? I regret to say I have. :( For myself more than anyone else...

Love and Hate... i think they're the two most powerful things a human can feel... obviously most, if not all, would choose love over hate...

but how do we get to hate something? Is there justice in hating someone/something?

It's horrid to feel hatred inside you... I know this. :( But I know many people consider it something a good thing to feel... to feel the hate boiling inside of you, makes you feel alive... Invincible.

I disagree with that, I don't enjoy hate at all, and pity those that do... but I won't deny that it makes you feel stronger... meh. :P Not much to discuss.... maybe I'm being unclear in my point. :P I'm too tired to explain. ;)

What do you think? :P

Hate like Love is an entirely overused word.

"I hate broccoli"

"Don't you hate rap?"

The concept of hate is far more complex than our curent social fabric suggests. "Hate" by definition is unbounded contempt so deep that violence in action or thought is probable.

Hate exists in the form of racism, genocide, and murder.

Also recall that hate is far more powerful than despising a thing (SRD poetic usage of despite aside). For example, I may despise the Policies of GWB and DC, but do I hate them? No. I in fact pity them.
"I use my gun whenever kindness fails"

I would not go that far; Hate, like Love and Fear, is biologically hard-wired into us. Mother nature probably intended some use for it.

I didn't say that I haven't been incredibly stupid in the past-but it's still a waste of personal time and energy. Maybe an instinct that warns us of another person's dangerous intent is a good thing to have hardwired into us, but, to me, in the case of hate Mother Nature is just being stupid! :P

Hate is not stupid. Love is not stupid. Stupid people hate and love, and love and hate can make us stupid. But hate itself? There is a time and place for it, like anything else. And yes, I do hate broccoli; or, if you insist on the proper vernacular, then my tastebuts dislike the pungent taste and greasy texture of that awful nasty little smelly green thingie. I also hate child abuse, and it is neither a senseless or stupid hate.

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion

I'm talking about hatred of one's fellow man. If such hatred involves an investment of personal time and energy how is it worth it, and aren't you, in a way, allowing them to have power over you?

It's not the hating that's expensive, it's acting on that hatred, right?

Personally, I feel if there's no one you hate, *couGWBgh* ... excuse me ... then you may have 'passion issues'. Being passionate about things can't be limited to positive passions only.

I agree with Gunslinger here. They are overused words, and have, on the whole, lost the deeper impact and meaning that should be associated with them.

In the long run, hatred harms the "Hater" far more than the "Hated".

Yes I completely agree Avatar 8)

I think I've passed my hate now, and have just pity. (not for myself! :P! ) which is good. Because hate is a vile thing to experience.

And so pointless. What purpose does it serve?

Overcoming hate is a far more valuable lesson than hating, which doesn't really serve any purpose.

Who is served by hate? Nobody.

Darth Vader was served by hate...

:P

Mind you, look how he ended up. :P

Anyways, no, hate doesn't serve any purpose.

Hatred, to me is a Boiling, seething, obsessive dislike of someone or something.

Hatred is the core of Extremism.

People who have learned to do their best to keep the word hate out of their vocabulary, generally find they become happier people.

I've disliked and disrespected a great many things and people, but, I have hated very, very few.

I've read religious pamphlets dropped off at my door, and been astounded by the use of the sentence "God Hates..." This instantly turned me off my ability to even consider the legitimacy behind the religion, because the God I feel doesn't hate. One such pamphlet, in about 20 pages, used sentences containing "God hates" a minimum of 10 times.

I have a great respect for the neighbors who happen to stem from this religion, but, I cannot accept the religion itself, even if it is responsible for how good of people they are. I just can't accept a God who preaches hate.

Damn Darth, you really like to get deep, eh?

Why give it time? Or are you just trying to spread them out so that you don't have to constantly be thinking of new topics?

You should know as well as anyone that none of the topics here are EVER concluded. People just eventually get bored of them.

I look forward to your new topics.
