You know, I cna't make up my mind. I like FF games, and one or two other RPGs, but I also like platformers, and I kinda like racing games too... Sim-whatever games are good as well (Has Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, Sims, Sim City 4, Theme Hospital....)
Do God sims go under the creation category?

I'm old school stuck on FPS. Doom got me started. Duke Nukem introduced me to deathmatch. Quake II made online really fun. I still like flight & driving sims though.

The problem is that there are very few good rpg games on the market. I love that genre of game but the market is in a glut.

Oooh I love RPGs... First person shooters aren't bad as long as I get to shoot monsters with flame thowers and chain saws and the like (serious sam) because I know absolutely nothign about guns and have a terrible sense of direction, I do very badly with games like max payne.

Haha, nice excuse ;)

I looove RPGs, they're the most ridiculously amazing ( ;) ) things ever. I've finished very few, heh, but I still love playing them. I felt very proud when I finished Secret of Mana - that thing was a beast back in the day! 8)

I like adventure, exploration, mission RPGs because they're like an interactive novel. Number one importance is a great storyline and characters that develop. Number two is great (and easy) game play and battle systems. [I HATED the conjuction system of FF VIII. Hated the storyline - such as it was - too!!] Number three is compelling graphics.

The First Person Shooter is my favorite genre. The original Quake blew me away in '96, as did Goldeneye 007 for N64. Then came Quake II...Quake III...and the mighty Unreal Tournament, which was so addictive it scared me.

Runner-up favorite genres are sports (ahem, Golf) and racing (a la Need For Speed).

Plus I always love a good adventure game. (I said good.)

I forgot about this post. We hadn't spoken that much at this point, and I remember thinking "Wow! A girl who loves RPGs! Is she single?" ;)

There are some genres left out there.

I'd say my favorite in order these days are

Music/Rhythm games (Rock Band, Guitar Hero, DDR)
Adventure games (The Longest Journey, Gabriel Knight, old Lucas Arts games, The Myst clan)
Tactics games (FF Tactics, Advance Wars, but surprisingly I hate Disgaea)
RPGs (Final Fantasy, Ultima, etc, but I don't have time to finish the bastards anymore)

Guess RPG's and strategy games. But most strategy games are ruined for me by Total War.
